India's batters have the skills and experience needed to navigate the challenge of playing on a tricky pitch in New York, batting coach Vikram Rathour said after their Twenty20 World Cup victory over Ireland on Wednesday.
The first batch of Indian cricketers, including skipper Rohit Sharma, on Saturday departed for United States ahead of the T20 World Cup beginning on June 2. Apart from Rohit, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, top-ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour and few other players left from Mumbai airport. Other players in the travelling contingent include Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel among others.
Indian cricket team batting coach Vikram Rathour said that batter KL Rahul is not fit at the moment but he was unsure about his exact condition and added that the medical team will be able to advise on his availability in the future. Rahul played the first Test in the five-match series but was ruled out of the next two games due to his quadriceps injury. Jaiswal went on to score an unbeaten 214 after retiring hurt on the third day of Rajkot Test as he experienced lower back pain.
