World number two Carlos Alcaraz admitted he "was not up to the level" of 18th-ranked Ugo Humbert of France who swept to a shock Paris Masters third round victory over the Spanish superstar on Thursday. Left-handed Humbert came through 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 to register his first win over the French Open and Wimbledon champion having lost twice to Alcaraz earlier in 2024. It was a testing evening for Alcaraz who was 0-5 down in the first set before he managed to get on the board.

PARIS : Alexander Zverev began his Paris Masters campaign with a confident 7-6(2) 6-3 victory over Tallon Griekspoor on Wednesday, while Russian fourth seed Daniil Medvedev was knocked out after losing 6-4 2-6 7-6(4) to Alexei Popyrin.
Spain's Carlos Alcaraz opened his campaign at the Paris Masters on Tuesday with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Chilean Nicolas Jarry. After receiving a bye through the first round, Alcaraz took a 3-0 lead in his round of 32 match but was reigned back in by Jarry, before eventually claiming the first set 7-5. However, Alcaraz was in commanding form in the second set, giving his Chilean opponent only one game as he raced to victory. "It's been two years since I have won a match here in Paris.. so every time that I keep going is a gift for me," said the 21-year-old Spaniard.
Top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany zipped past Joel Schwaerzler 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round of the Erste Bank Open on Monday in Vienna, Austria.
Arthur Fils fought through two nervous tiebreaks to beat Holger Rune 7-6(8) 7-6(10) on Monday to reach the final of the Japan Open, setting up a clash with fellow Frenchman Ugo Humbert in Tokyo.
