Real Madrid signed Spain defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth on Saturday after agreeing to pay his £50 million (approx. Rs 569 crore) release fee. The 20-year-old centre-back has impressed in his one season in the Premier League after joining the Cherries from Juventus in 2024 for £12.8 million. "Real Madrid and Bournemouth have reached a deal for the transfer of player Dean Huijsen, who will be at our club for the next five seasons, from June 1 2025 until June 30, 2030," said Los Blancos in a statement.
Virgil van Dijk said Liverpool's players were "gutted" to learn of Trent Alexander-Arnold's decision to leave the club but does not believe his impending departure will overshadow their Premier League title celebrations. The Liverpool-born right-back, 26, was greeted with boos from large sections of the Anfield crowd when he came on as a substitute in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal. It was his first match since he announced last week that he would be leaving his boyhood club when his contract expires at the end of June, with Real Madrid his expected destination. "We are gutted that he's not here with us next year because he's a fantastic player with outstanding, exceptional qualities that we have seen over the last seven years," said captain Van Dijk.
Liverpool’s players were “gutted” to learn of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave but captain Virgil van Dijk insists the full-back and the rest of the players will deal with Anfield’s toxic fall-out together.
Liverpool fans mercilessly taunted Arsenal about their European failures but Mikel Arteta’s side salvaged some pride as they came from two goals down to draw at Anfield.
LIVERPOOL, England : Andy Robertson sprang to the defence of Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold after some fans booed the right back during his side's 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal on Sunday.
After a month of speculation, Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will not extend his contract and leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Although a new club has not been announced, Real Madrid's long-time admiration of the wingback has been one of the worst-kept secrets in football and it is expected that the announcement will follow in the coming days. Announcing his decision through a video on social media, Trent revealed that this is the "hardest decision" he has ever made in his life.
LIVERPOOL: England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool, the club he has been at since the age of six, he said on social media platform X on Monday, calling it the hardest decision of his life. Born in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold rose through the youth ranks to become one of the best right backs in the world, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup with the English team. “This club has been my whole life – my whole world — for 20 years,” Alexander-Arnold said in his statement. “From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all. “But, I have never known anything else and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally.” The 26-year-old England international frequently played in a hybrid midfield role for Liverpool in recent seasons, operating as a full back when out of possession but moving into midfield during attacks.
