NEW DELHI : Shubman Gill smashed an incendiary 129 off 60 balls to send Gujarat Titans into the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) following their 62-run victory against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Shubman Gill produced an absolute masterclass as he slammed his third IPL century for Gujarat Titans during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Qualifier 2 encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. Gill looked completely in control against all the MI bowlers as the opener scored 129 runs off 60 deliveries with the help of 7 fours and 10 sixes. While all the MI bowlers struggled against him, last match's hero Akash Madhwal went for three sixes in a single over.
Mumbai Indians registered a thumping 81-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator match on IPL 2023 on Wednesday. Playing at Chepauk, the five-time champions posted a total of 182/8 and later bundled out LSG for 101, after Akash Madhwal took a five-wicket haul. The wickets kept on tumbling as young pacer Madhwal broke the backbone of LSG's batting attack but one wicket which became the talk of the town was from the Mumbai Indians' camp, as Tim David's dismissal off Yash Thakur's delivery can be called as one of the most unfortunate.
With a place in the final up for grabs, Mumbai Indians would be fancying their chances against defending champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. Akash Madhwal's breathtaking bowling performance against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator has given MI a much-needed boost ahead of the clash against the holders. GT, on the other hand, were outclassed and outgunned in Qualifier 1 by MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings. The Hardik Pandya-led side will have one last chance to gather themselves up and put their best foot forward in familiar conditions here in order to qualify for their second IPL final on the trot.
Lucknow Super Giants had a forgettable outing against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 Eliminator in Chennai on Wednesday. Chasing a 183-run target, LSG fell short by 81 runs to be knocked out of the race for a final berth. Marcus Stoinis was LSG's best batter with a score of 40. Till the time he was at the crease, it looked like LSG were in with a chance despite wickets falling at the other end. However, his innings was cut short in the 12th over of the chase after a bizarre run out. Facing MI's Cameron Green, Stoinis and fellow batter Deepak Hooda ran for a couple of runs on the fifth delivery. There was a mix-up between the two and they even collided mid-pitch.
CHENNAI, India: Akash Madhwal took five wickets for as many runs to lead Mumbai Indians to a crushing 81-run win in the second IPL playoff game and knock Lucknow Super Giants out of the tournament on Wednesday.
Playoff aspirants Mumbai Indians take on SunRisers Hyderabad in their last match of the league phase of this season's Indian Premier League (IPL). With one playoff spot remaining, MI need nothing less than a win to keep up the pressure on fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who will be in action later on Sunday at home to Gujarat Titans. With four wins and two defeats, MI have certainly taken full advantage of their homeground, something that Rohit Sharma's men would want to continue as they also have the final opportunity to improve their Net Run Rate (NRR).
