LONDON: Graham Potter earned his first win as Chelsea manager after Conor Gallagher returned to haunt Crystal Palace with the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park on Saturday. Potter was taking charge of Chelsea for just the second time since replacing the sacked Thomas Tuchel in September. The former Brighton boss had overseen a 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg in the Champions League and was seconds away from another frustrating result until England midfielder Gallagher rode to the rescue.
Gallagher -- applauded loudly by the home fans in the pre-match warm-up -- received a ball from fellow substitute Christian Pulisic, created a yard of space for himself and then bent the ball around Vicente Guaita for his first Chelsea goal. Earlier, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had seized on a headed pass by Thiago Silva to level the match with his first goal for Chelsea in the 38th minute. The Brazilian nodded down towards Aubameyang who let the ball cross him before swivelling and shooting to open his account for the Londoners following his move from Barcelona.
LONDON : Conor Gallagher sealed a last-gasp comeback 2-1 win for Chelsea at Crystal Palace on Saturday, sinking the club he played for on loan last season with a glorious curling shot in coach Graham Potter's first Premier League game in charge of the Blues.
Graham Potter has told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang he has ‘nothing to prove’ following Thomas Tuchel’s sacking and says he will not judge Christian Pulisic on his previous Chelsea form.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter is ready to give Christian Pulisic a chance to prove himself as the American looks to regain his place after being openly critical of Thomas Tuchel’s handling of him. Pulisic has started one league game this season and only made 13 Premier League starts last season.
Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could start Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace on the bench, with Armando Broja potentially set to get the nod from Graham Potter, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
