Competing Against Shane Warne Among Career Highlights, Says Rahul Dravid

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid on Saturday paid tribute to Shane Warne after the Australian spin great died at the age of 52. The iconic spinner succumbed in Thailand following a suspected heart attack. Earlier on Friday, Rodney Marsh had also died. Dravid also condoled the unfortunate demise of Australian legendary wicketkeeper Rodney Marsh and spin great Shane Warne, calling it a deep loss. "Really sad day for the game of cricket to lose to legends in two days the people who I think truly made the game what it is, who truly loved the game. It is indeed a deep loss. Our thoughts are with the family and all their friends. May their souls rest in peace. I did not know Rod that well met him a few times but obviously grew up watching lots of Rodney Marsh and hearing a lot about him," said Rahul Dravid in a video on BCCI's Twitter account.

Rohit Sharma's assurance to super-subs paying off

Rohit Sharma was asked about a batter of Shreyas Iyer's calibre warming the bench at the Eden Gardens, he admitted it was very hard on the fellow Mumbaikar not making it to the playing XI. The new all-format skipper, however, made sure that the 27-year-old got a look-in as soon as BCCI decided to give Team India regulars Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant a break from the tough bio-bubble and rest them for the T20 leg of the series against Sri Lanka. Also, the absence of KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar provided Rohit the perfect opportunity to try out the fringe players.

Ranji Trophy: Ishant bowls only four overs but Saini takes three as Delhi bowl out Jharkhand for 251

Ishant Sharma bowled only one short spell of four overs but his Team India colleague Navdeep Saini along with the spinners dismissed Jharkhand for a below par 251 on the opening day of Delhi's second group H must-win Ranji Trophy match on Thursday. Ishant and Saini's entry made Delhi's attack stronger but the lanky fast bowler (4-1-14-0) after a gingerly first spell was never brought back for a second spell. It didn't affect much as Saini (12-2-37-3) along with left-arm spinner Vikas Mishra (18-3-65-3) and two part-time off-break bowlers Lalit Yadav (13-0-46-2) and Nitish Rana (14-2-41-2) got wickets at regular intervals to deflate Jharkhand.

India vs Sri Lanka: Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah a future Team India skipper?

Rohit Sharma believes in pacer's leadership skillsLast year when Australia appointed Pat Cummins as Test skipper, doubts were raised on whether a fast bowler should be given the role of captaincy. Cummins silenced naysayers with his leadership in the Ashes, which the Aussies won 4-0. Although the conventional practice by cricket-playing nations is to appoint batters as captains, there have been many instances in the past of countries going for 'bowler captain' and consequently reaping rewards.

Decision To Drop Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane From Test Side "Unfair", Says Former India Cricketer

Having been dropped from India's upcoming Test series vs Sri Lanka, out-of-form batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane received unlikely backing from a former India cricketer, who labelled the treatment of the duo as "unfair". Pujara and Rahane faced plenty of criticism after India's recent Test series defeat in South Africa and questions were raised about their place in the Indian playing XI. Meanwhile after dropping the duo, Team India chief selector Chetan Sharma said that they will need to find their way back to the national side through good performances in the Ranji Trophy.

Indian Cricketers' Association Issues Statement In Favour Of Wriddhiman Saha, Condemns Journalist's "Threats"

The Indian Cricketers' Association on Tuesday released a statement and the body condemned the "threatening message" sent by a journalist to wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. The ICA has also welcomed the BCCI's decision to probe the issue. "We acknowledge the fact that the media plays a very important role both in the growth of our game and the players but there's always a line that must never be crossed. What has happened in Saha's case is totally unacceptable and we call for the respective press organisations too to take up the matter and ensure such things are not repeated," ICA President Ashok Malhotra said in an official statement.
