Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has followed in Roger Federer's footsteps as just the second man in history to back up his Masters 1000-level defeat of Novak Djokovic by reaching the final. The 22-year-old stunned the top seed in his opening match earlier this week and has now backed it up by making it to the championship match, where he faces defending champ Stefanos Tsitsipas for the title.
Defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the final of the Monte Carlo Masters, where he will face Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Stefanos Tsitsipas says he is expecting a «big battle» in the Monte Carlo Masters final after easing past Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Tsitsipas — despite a scare against Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals late on Friday — has looked in fine touch all week at the Monte Carlo Country Club and he continued that form in a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 victory over Zverev.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina felt a bathroom break was key to him reaching the Monte Carlo Masters final following a battling win over Grigor Dimitrov. The unseeded Spaniard eventually saw off the Bulgarian 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in two hours and 43 minutes to continue his remarkable week in the principality, and will now go on to face the winner of Saturday's other semi-final which sees Stefanos Tsitsipas take on Alexander Zverev.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina feels he will have «all the power» with him after reaching the Monte Carlo Masters final following a battling win over Grigor Dimitrov.
Palabras mayores.
