BCCI To Take A Call On Sunil Gavaskar's 'IPL With No Cheerleaders, DJs' Suggestion: Report

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to resume to resume on Saturday, May 17, legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar urged the BCCI the remaining 17 matches without cheerleaders and DJs. According to a report, the BCCI is now seriously considering the suggestion made by Gavaskar. IPL 2025 was suspended for a week on May 8 amid cross-border tensions with Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. "No DJs, Dancing Girls": Sunil Gavaskar's Blunt Message As IPL Resumes, Keeping In Mind Those Who 'Lost Dear Ones'

The IPL 2025 will restart on May 17 after a week's gap. As India-Pakistan border tensions escalated, the BCCI, on Friday last week, released a statement: "At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan's armed forces."

Sunil Gavaskar Snubs Shubman Gill, Wants This Star To Replace Rohit Sharma As Test Captain

Rohit Sharma's exit as India's Test captain has posed a big question in front of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee. The Ajit Agarkar-led panel has to select a new captain and a vice-captain for the national team in the Test format, especially as Rohit's deputy Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly ruled himself out of the captaincy race. Bumrah looked like the natural candidate to succeed Rohit but his injury record made the board to consider other candidates.

"Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Will Not Play 2027 ODI World Cup": Sunil Gavaskar's Blunt Verdict

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma looked set to feature for India in the whites on the tour of England, probably for the last time in their careers, but a call to quit the format even before the series began stunned everyone. With the duo already retired from T20 internationals, the only format in which they will be seen wearing the India shirt is ODIs. While Virat Kohli has publicly expressed his desire to play in the 2027 World Cup, the importance Rohit gives to the 50-over World Cup is matched by none. Yet, Indian cricket great Sunil Gavaskar doesn't think playing the 2027 World Cup is practically possible for Rohit and Virat.
