Rangers have sacked boss Michael Beale after a disastrous start to the season.
It has always been quite challenging for Australian cricketers to adapt to the hot playing conditions in India and it was once again the case during the third ODI encounter in Rajkot on Wednesday. Steve Smith looked in good touch against the Indian bowlers but the sweltering heat and humidity proved to be the bigger challenge for him. During the 30th over of the Australian innings, there was a drinks break and Smith had a chair on the ground as well as an ice pack in order to keep himself cool. It look like he was feeling better but one over later, he once again asked for drinks to come in with the chair and the ice pack.
India vs Australia, 3rd ODI, Live Updates: Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first against India in the third and final ODI in Rajkot. For India, skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli are back in action after missing out on the first two games. The likes of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have been rested due to viral fever. All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is also missing and has been replaced by Washington Sundar. On the other hand. Australia have called-in Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell and Tanveer Sangha will be making his debut. The hosts have taken 2-0 lead in the series and will be aiming for a clean sweep. Steve Smith might be taking a wee bit more time to adjust to sub-continental tracks but his poor returns in the first two ODIs against India is least of concern for the Australian team management, senior speedster Mitchell Starc said on Tuesday. Usually a prolific scorer against India, Smith has scores of 0 and 41 in the first two ODIs on batting-friendly tracks, having flopped earlier in the Test series in February-March when he could only manage 145 runs across four Tests. Starc, who himself is coming back from groin niggle, was speaking ahead of the third and final ODI scheduled on Wednesday. "No. His (Smith) numbers speak for himself," Starc replied to a query on Smith's current form.
Following his side's 99-run loss to India in the second ODI, Australia skipper Steve Smith that having lost five matches in a row ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in October, his side needs to work on a few things. India outplayed Australia with both bat and ball to clinch the three-match ODI series 2-0 after winning the second match by 99 runs through The Duckworth-Lew–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method at the Holkar Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI, Live Updates: India will be squaring off against Australia in the second ODI match on Sunday in Indore. The hosts have already taken 1-0 lead in the three-match series after registering a thumping five-wicket win over Australia in the first ODI on Friday.
Former India batter Virender Sehwag feels Suryakumar Yadav can be the "x-factor" for the Rohit Sharma-led side, heading into next month's ODI World Cup on home soil. Suryakumar struck a flawless 49 ball 50, which included five fours and a six, in the first ODI against Australia in Mohali. The star batter, who had been going throw a slump in the 50-over format, ended a 21-match drought with an ODI fifty. Sehwag hailed Suryakumar after his knock, saying not many batters can create fear in the minds of opposition.
Mohammed Siraj was the top performer for India in the Asia Cup 2023 final as he produced a devastating spell of fast bowling to leave Sri Lanka in tatters during the summit clash. The pacer ended up taking six wickets as Sri Lanka were all-out for 50 and India ended up winning the game by 10 wickets. The next assignment for the Indian cricket team is the three-match ODI series against Australia and Siraj will once be a key component in the Indian pace attack. Australia skipper Pat Cummins was asked if he has any special plans for Siraj but he quickly shut the discussions down by just saying 'no'.
