Steve Smith Faces Injury Scare Ahead Of Pink-Ball Test Against India At Adelaide

Star Australian batter Steve Smith suffered a hit on his right thumb while batting in the nets ahead of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India at Adelaide Oval, reported Wisden on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the hosts experienced a mild scare from Smith as while he was taking throwdowns from Marnus Labuschagne, he was struck on his right thumb. For a brief while, he stopped batting and looked in some serious pain while having a chat with Marnus Labuschagne, as per Wisden.

Australia Great's Brutal 'Drop Marnus Labuschagne' Message For Selectors: "Play Some..."

Former pacer Mitchell Johnson reckons that Australia should drop out-of-form Marnus Labuschagne from the playing eleven for the day-night Adelaide Test against India, starting December 6. Labuschagne got out for two (52 balls) in the first innings and 5-ball three in the second essay during the Perth Test. "Marnus Labuschagne — after a lengthy poor run with the bat — should be replaced for the second Test in Adelaide. And that's not for the sake of having someone pay the price for the thrashing in Perth," Johnson wrote in ‘Nightly.' Johnson said it will help Labuschagne to go back to domestic cricket and rediscover his form.

Australian Selectors Reject Call To Include Out-Of-Form Batters In Prime Minister's XI vs India

Australian selectors have decided against sending any out-of form national team batters to play for the Prime Minister's XI against India in Canberra, following the hammering in the Perth Test. Hosts Australia were handed a 295-run bashing by India in the series opener of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this week and following the disappointing performance, the pressure is intensifying on the top order ahead of the second Test against India in Adelaide on December 6. The likes of Marnus Labuschagne (2, 3) and Steve Smith (0, 17) struggled against India and many, including former captain Maichael Clarke, feel the duo, along with reserve batter Josh Inglis, could benefit from the two-day pink-ball warm-up game.

Australia Marks 10 Years Since Death Of Cricketer Phillip Hughes

Family and teammates paid tribute to late Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes on Wednesday, marking 10 years since he died after being struck on the neck while batting. Hughes, who played 26 Tests, died from bleeding on the brain after he was hit by a rising ball during a domestic match at the Sydney Cricket Ground in November 2014. Images of 25-year-old Hughes lying helpless on the pitch as players rushed to his aid shocked the world cricket community, sparking an outpouring of grief and calls to make the game safer.

Jaiswal lifts India to 275-1 at lunch on day three

PERTH : Australia's bowling attack was left dejected at lunch on day three of the first test in Perth, as India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal cruised to 141 not out to help take his team to 275-1, and a 321-run lead, on Sunday.

Australia Fall To Historic Low In Record Books As India Pacers Shine In Perth Test

Australia fell to a historic low after India's pace blitz left the hosts tottering on Day 2 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series opener in Perth. The rivalry between two modern-day Test heavyweights has lived up to the expectations with the on-field action in every aspect. On the opening day, when India folded on 150, all signs pointed in favour of Australia's dominance. But India pacers, spearheaded by stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, dug deep, upped the ante, and made Australia perish on 104.

"Gautam Gambhir Always...": Yet Another India Youngster Reveals Coach's Words Of Inspiration

After the second day of the Perth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), Indian pacer Harshit Rana on Saturday credited coach Gautam Gambhir for being able to make a good start to his Test career and thanked him for his support. During Australia's first inning, Rana picked up three wickets in his 16-over spell at an economy rate of 3.10. The 22-year-old picked up his maiden international wicket on Friday when he removed Travis Head for 11 runs. On Saturday, the Indian pacer bagged Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon's wickets to help bundle out Australia at 104.

India vs Australia: Jasprit Bumrah Gifts Steve Smith 'Unwanted Career First' In Perth Test

Jasprit Bumrah ran past Australia's batting line-up like a hot knife through butter, returning figures of 4/17 on Day 1 of the 1st Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Friday. Bumrah, who is leading the team in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, did the damage with the ball after India collapsed to 150, having opted to bat first. However, Bumrah demolished the Australian top order in a devastating spell with Australia  in disarray on 67-7 at the end of the day's play.
