"Given His Age...": Virender Sehwag Reasons How Relieving Rohit Sharma From T20 Captaincy May Help Star

Former India opener Virender Sehwag reckons that skipper Rohit Sharma could be relieved from captaincy duties in the T20 format which would allow him to manage his workload better. Rohit has not been able to feature in all of India's matches since taking over as captain due to injuries and workload management. "If the Indian team management has someone else in mind as captain in the T20 format, then I think, Rohit (Sharma) could be relieved and the following can be taken into consideration going forward," Sehwag told PTI in an interview.

List Of Cricketers To Score 10,000 Runs In Test Cricket

Joe Root became the latest entrant to the 10,000-run club in Test cricket, achieving the rare feat on Day 4 of the opening Test against New Zealand on Sunday. Root became only the second Englishman to reach the milestone after Alastair Cook and the 14th overall. He reached the 10,000-run mark in his 218th innings, becoming the fastest England batter to do so. Cook had reached the landmark in his 229th innings. Incidentally, Root is also the joint-youngest to reach the mark along with Cook, both of whom reached the milestone at the age of 31y 157d.

"Got An Extension In Captaincy...": Harbhajan Singh On How He Helped Sourav Ganguly With His 2001 Performance

The Indian cricket team's 2001 home Test series against Australia was an intensely-contested one. Some great performances from the likes of VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Harbhajan Singh saw the Sourav Ganguly-led India defeat the mighty Australians, playing under Steve Waugh. Harbhajan finished the three-Test series with 32 wickets to be the top wicket-taker.  He was crucial in India making a strong comeback in the series after losing the first Test in Mumbai by 10 wickets. Ganguly had backed Harbhajan then and he repaid the faith.

Angry Ashes winner Langer blames 'bullsh*t politics' for quitting as Australia coach

Justin Langer has blamed "politics" for contributing to his exit as Australian cricket coach despite guiding the team to an Ashes thrashing of England and the Twenty20 World Cup crown. The 51-year-old walked away from the job in February after failing to secure the public support of key players and following acrimonious contract talks with governing body Cricket Australia (CA).He was unhappy at being offered only a six-month extension despite steering Australia to a 4-0 Ashes victory at the start of the year and the T20 title in the United Arab Emirates in 2021.Australian cricket greats including Ricky Ponting, Steve Waugh and the late Shane Warne jumped to his defence, taking umbrage at the way he was being treated. But in the run-up to his departure disgruntled players had complained anonymously to Australian media about his intense coaching style. In his first comments since, a still-bristling Langer detailed a heated conversation with CA's then-interim chairman Richard Freudenstein the day after he quit.

Justin Langer hits out at politics in Cricket Australia

Justin Langer has slammed the politics in the national cricket board as he opened up on his messy departure from the top job, specifically hitting out at interim chairman Richard Freudenstein. In February, the 51-year-old stepped down as the senior men's team coach after rejecting a six-month contract extension, having hoped for a multi-year deal after overseeing a successful T20 World Cup campaign and an Ashes triumph. The day after quitting his job, Langer had a heated conversation with Freudenstein.
