'Had Ashes Game At...': David Warner On His Initial Test Retirement Venue

Australian opener David Warner on Monday revealed that he was ready to walk away from Test cricket following the second Ashes Test at Lord's last year had he not scored any runs. Warner will bid farewell to the longest format of the game with the third Test against Pakistan at his home arena of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). At the start of the tour to the UK ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final against India, Warner had made his intentions clear to retire from whites at his home stadium but also said that form would play a part.

Pat Cummins led from the front as Australia blew away Pakistan on Friday to win the second Test in Melbourne, while also taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series. Australia captain Cummins bagged five wickets and 10 in the match as the hosts won by 79 runs after an extended final session on Day 4. The lanky pacer struck three times after Tea, before Mitchell Starc took two wickets in as many balls to wrap up Pakistan's innings.

But they were dismissed for 237, with the last five wickets falling for 18 runs. Cummins was the chief destroyer, taking 5-49 to go with his first innings 5-48 -- only the second 10-wicket haul of his Test career.

In a rare sight, Australia collected five runs without any boundaries or no ball in the second innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Pakistan in Melbourne. The incident happened after play resumed on Day 4 with Australia captain Pat Cummins and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey in the middle. Cummins pushed Aamer Jamal's delivery through point as he and Carey sneaked a couple of runs. However, the throw to the bowler's end was missed by Jamal and it resulted in an overthrow.

The Boxing Day Test in Melbourne between Pakistan and Australia has produced several impressive performances till now but on Thursday, the crowd were witness to hilarious scenes as a section of fans danced to Hasan Ali's moves. During the action on Day 3, Ali was fielding at the boundary and he decided to try out some dance moves. The spectators behind him did not hesitate and they also joined in with the Pakistan cricketer. Ali ended up doing a couple of moves that the fans replicated and at the end of it, he applauded the fans for their effort. The video of the entire incident has already gone viral on social media.

Pakistan cricket team star Abdullah Shafique was once again criticised heavily after he dropped a sitter at first slip to provide a lifeline to Mitchell Marsh on Day 3 of the second Test match against Australia in Melbourne. It was a straightforward chance but he ended up closing his hands too soon and the ball bounced out much to the disappointment of Pakistan. Shafique had earlier dropped a catch from David Warner in the first innings and former Australia slip fielder Mark Waugh was not impressed.“Like a crocodile jaw trying to take a catch. Get him out of there,” Waugh said on commentary.

Former Australia spinner Kerry O'Keeffe expressed his surprise at the Pakistan team for presenting Christmas gifts to the Pat Cummins-led side ahead of the second Test in Melbourne. Ahead of the start of the proceedings on Boxing Day, the Pakistan cricket team presented gifts for the Australian team. In a video uploaded by PCB, a member of the support staff was also seen distributing candies to children present during the indoor training session. Reacting to the video, O'Keeffe questioned if Sourav Ganguly would have done something similar for Steve Waugh during the previous era.
