MELBOURNE : Former Australia test captain Tim Paine ended his cricket career on Friday after Tasmania's Sheffield Shield match against Queensland ended in a draw at the Bellerive Oval.
After a 2-1 triumph in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India shift their focus to the 3-match ODI series against Australia that could set the precedent for future. With Rohit Sharma out of the first ODI due to family commitments, Hardik Pandya has been given the responsibility to lead the team.
After winning the Test series 2-1 against Australia, hosts India would aim to start the ODI series between the sides on a dominating note. India will take the field on Friday without regular captain Rohit Sharma, who will miss the game due to family commitments. Hardik Pandya will be leading the hosts in the absence of Rohit. The stand-in captain confirmed a new opening pair for the hosts for the first match. He said that if will be the pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, who will open the innings for India. Notably, both the batters are going through great form. The duo has also hit a double century each in the ODI format recently.
An Australian cricket journalist, Peter Lalor, recently shared a video on Twitter that showed a construction worker engaged in a task without any protective gear or following any safety protocols. Lalor, who is currently in India to cover the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was amazed by the guts shown by the construction worker. "Indian construction workers are amazingly brave but bloody hell I reckon they might need a union to demand a bit more site safety. This is 9 stories up with another 9 to go," Lalor tweeted.
