Senior batter Virat Kohli added another feather to his highly illustrious cap as he became India's leading run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy history during the semi-final clash against Australia at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. Virat Kohli Shatters Sachin Tendulkar's Record, Achieves Huge Milestone Against Australia

Indian cricket team star batter Virat Kohli shattered Sachin Tendulkar's record during the Champions Trophy 2025 encounter against Australia in Dubai on Tuesday. Kohli looked comfortable against the Australia bowlers and was able to score a gritty half-century. Thanks to this knock, he has the most 50-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments (24) as he went past Sachin's record of 23. India captain Rohit Sharma is currently third with 18 while Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara has 17. Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting holds the fifth position in the illustrious list with 16 50-plus scores.

"In Pakistan, India Would've...": Sourav Ganguly's Big Remark On 'Champions Trophy 2025 Venue' Row

The Indian cricket team booked their Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal berth without a single loss after they defeated New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. India are the only side in the competition till now who have won all three of their encounters. However, there has been claims of 'unfair advantage' from both past and current players due to the fact that India are playing all of their games in Dubai. The Indian government did not allow the national side to travel to Pakistan and the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to host the competition in a 'hybrid manner'. Ex-England cricketers like Naseer Hussain and Mike Atherton were not pleased with the scheduling while Jos Buttler and South Africa batter Rassie van der Dussen also echoed similar sentiments when asked about the topic.

"Injury Can Happen To Anyone": Ex-India Skipper Backs Mohammed Shami After Win vs NZ

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly hailed Team India following their win over New Zealand in the final group stage match of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, saying that it has the capability to defeat anyone in white-ball cricket. India booked their semifinal clash with rivals Australia on March 4 following a 44-run win over NZ in their ICC Champions Trophy match, ending the group stage on a high with three wins in three matches. Speaking to ANI, Ganguly said, "India won the last T20 World Cup (in 2024) and played in the final (of 50-over in 2023). It is a very strong team in white-ball cricket, no matter who is on the opposite side. It has the capability to defeat anyone."

Ibrahim Zadran Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly To Become First Player Ever To...

Opener Ibrahim Zadran struck a Champions Trophy record of 177 to lift Afghanistan from an early wobble to 325-7 against England in a group match in Lahore on Wednesday. The Group B clash at the Gaddafi Stadium is effectively a knockout with the losing team out of the semi-final race of the 50-over tournament. Playing under the cloud of boycott calls from some British politicians over the plight of women in the Taliban-ruled nation, Afghanistan elected to bat in a bid to bounce back from their opening loss. But they soon slipped to 37-3 inside nine overs before Zadran pulled the innings together with a fourth-wicket partnership of 103 with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi, who made 40. Zadran later added 111 for the sixth wicket with Mohammad Nabi, who hit 40 in 24 balls.

New Zealand Duo Replicate Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag; Register Rare Feat In Champions Trophy

Will Young and Tom Latham joined an exclusive New Zealand club with their blistering centuries against the defending champions, Pakistan, in the Champions Trophy tournament opener on Wednesday in Karachi. Young and Latham turned the opening clash into a run-scoring fest on a dry strip filled with plenty of cracks. Both players went on to hit the three-digit figures as New Zealand breezed past the 300-run mark. It was also the fifth instance that two players had scored centuries in a single Champions Trophy innings. The first instance was when Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag did so for India against England in 2002.
