It was a disappointing show from Smriti Mandhana in the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League as the star batter failed to score big for Royal Challengers Bangalore and her team also failed to reach the play-offs. However, the RCB skipper had a surprise up her sleeve in the final group stage match against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Mandhana, who was bought for a record Rs 3.4 crore, bowled for the first time in the tournament and the video has quickly gone viral on social media as she rarely bowls. Mandhana's action reminded fans of Virat Kohli who is also well known for his distinctive bowling action and even her India teammate Harleen Deol reacted to her bowling.

"I Will Take Blame": Smriti Mandhana's Massive Comment After RCB's Fourth Loss In WPL 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana said she is also to blame after a poor batting display saw the team suffer its fourth straight loss in the Women's Premier League here on Friday. Opting to bat, RCB were bowled out for 138 and then saw UP Warriorz complete a 10-wicket win with as many as 42 balls to spare at the Brabourne Stadium. The defeat has dented RCB's prospects of advancing further. "I think in the last four games, it has been happening. We start well and we lose a cluster of wickets. I will take the blame as well. As a top order batter, we need to put up runs on the board for the bowlers to defend," Mandhana said after the game.

It was yet another disappointing day for Royal Challengers Bangalore after they faced a 9-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in their previous Women's Premier League match on Monday. However, MI bounced back in the fifth over and bundled out RCB for 155 with Hayley Matthews taking a three-wicket haul. Later, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side chased down the target in just 14.2 overs with Matthews playing a match-winning knock of 77 runs off 38 balls.

"I Didn't Like": Ex-India Skipper Disappointed With Lack Of Indian Captains In WPL 2023

Former India captain Anjum Chopra is a bit disappointed that most franchises have opted for foreign players in leadership roles in the inaugural WPL, saying capable Indian players should have been handed the responsibility. The Women's Premier League begins on Saturday with a clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians in the opening match at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy. "I didn't like that most of the teams have opted for foreign players as captains because it's an Indian league and will be played in Indian conditions, so Indian players should have been captains if they have capabilities," she said.

Delhi Capitals Hold Slight Edge Over Royal Challengers Bangalore With Better Domestic Talent

Smriti Mandhana's languid grace will meet its match in Shafali Verma's brute power when Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Delhi Capitals in a WPL in Mumbai on Sunday. RCB have prepared a fantastic roster in terms of international recruits, including skipper Mandhana, who is the highest paid player of the league at Rs 3.40 crore. With Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Sophie Devine and the marauding Richa Ghosh in their ranks, the team does have a formidable look.
