IPL 2022 Auction: KKR Acquire Shreyas Iyer For INR 12.25 Crore, Most Expensive Buy In Ongoing Auction

Shreyas Iyer was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 12.25 crore in the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction on Saturday. The stylish batter was involved in a bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), Lucknow Super Giants, KKR and Gujarat Titans. Between Pat Cummins, Shreyas Iyer, We Have Two Solid Options As Captain: KKR CEO Venky Mysore

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore on Saturday said that his franchise has two solid captaincy options in the form of Pat Cummins and Shreyas Iyer. KKR picked up Cummins for Rs 7.25 crore and Iyer for Rs 12.25 in the ongoing IPL mega auction here in Bengaluru. "First of all, delighted with how the first session went for us. To get back Pat Cummins at that price, actually, we thought he would go at a higher price so we are delighted with that. Obviously, Shreyas is a quality Indian batter, so that's fantastic and we are very excited," said Mysore while replying to an ANI query during a virtual press conference.

Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer Return To Training After Recovering From COVID-19 Ahead Of 2nd ODI vs West Indies

In a welcome news for Team India, cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer returned to training after recovering from COVID-19. The duo had missed India's first ODI against the West Indies after testing positive for coronavirus on arrival in Ahmedabad. “@SDhawan25 & @ShreyasIyer15 have recovered from COVID-19 and trained with the #TeamIndia squad ahead of the 2nd ODI,” BCCI tweeted on Wednesday ahead of the 2nd ODI against West Indies. Both Dhawan and Iyer were seen training with the rest of the squad. The due were part of India's XI in the three ODIs against South Africa and it will be interesting to see if they get their spots back in the side for the second match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India are spoilt for choices in this encounter as opener KL Rahul, who too missed the series opener due to personal reasons, is available for selection.
