IPL Auction 2022: Excited to share dressing room with Shikhar Dhawan, says Raj Angad Bawa

Raj Angad Bawa's record breaking performance at the recently-concluded Under-19 World Cup final against England in Antigua not only caught the attention of the nation but kept many IPL teams hunting for a pace-bowling all-round option, interested, on the second day of the mega auction in Bengaluru. The Chandigarh teenager entered the auction at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, but soon witnessed his price tag swelling as Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings were locked in a keen battle. The Punjab Kings had the last laugh, acquiring the all-rounder for Rs 2 crore. IPL AUCTION: AS IT HAPPENEDA hard-hitting southpaw and a crafty right-arm medium pacer, Raj was one of the finds of India's victorious Under-19 World Cup campaign, returning with nine wickets and 252 runs from six matches. He saved his best for the summit clash against the English colts, claiming a five-for to guide India to the title. Co-incidentally, Raj Angad will share the Punjab Kings dressing room with Shikhar Dhawan, whose long-standing record of the highest individual score by an Indian in the U-19 World Cup was recently shattered by the Chandigarh youngster. A Covid-hit India U19 team faced Uganda in a group match and Raj rewrote the record books by smashing an unbeaten 162 off 108 deliveries, to eclipse Dhawan's 155 against Kenya at the 2004 U19 World Cup. "Excited to meet him (Shikhar Dhawan) and see if he knows about it. I have always looked up to him and sharing the dressing room with him would be a great experience," a delighted Rajangad told TOI after being picked by Punjab Kings.

Rohit Sharma Reveals Why Rishabh Pant Opened, Drops Big Hint On India's Openers For 3rd ODI vs West Indies

The sight of Rishabh Pant walking out to open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the India vs West Indies 2nd ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad took many surprise. It was the first time Pant was given an opportunity to bat at the top of the order in the 50-over format. The move drew eyeballs even more because KL Rahul, who had missed the first ODI due to personal reasons, was back in the XI. Pant took his time early on but just when he was looking set, he played a loose shot, trying to drag an Odean Smith delivery from way outside the off-stump to end up giving his wicket away for 18. After the match, which India won by 44 runs to seal the three-match series, captain Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind promoting Pant as an opener.

Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer Return To Training After Recovering From COVID-19 Ahead Of 2nd ODI vs West Indies

In a welcome news for Team India, cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer returned to training after recovering from COVID-19. The duo had missed India's first ODI against the West Indies after testing positive for coronavirus on arrival in Ahmedabad. “@SDhawan25 & @ShreyasIyer15 have recovered from COVID-19 and trained with the #TeamIndia squad ahead of the 2nd ODI,” BCCI tweeted on Wednesday ahead of the 2nd ODI against West Indies. Both Dhawan and Iyer were seen training with the rest of the squad. The due were part of India's XI in the three ODIs against South Africa and it will be interesting to see if they get their spots back in the side for the second match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India are spoilt for choices in this encounter as opener KL Rahul, who too missed the series opener due to personal reasons, is available for selection.

India vs West Indies: Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer Resume Training After Recovering From Covid-19, Says Report

Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer, who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week, had a light training session on Tuesday evening after recovering and completing their isolation period. The duo was monitored by the BCCI medical team. It is highly unlikely that they will be straight away drafted into the playing XI for the second ODI, which is scheduled to be held here on Wednesday. On February 2, a COVID-19 outbreak had hit the Indian cricket team as three main players -- Dhawan, reserve opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and middle-order batter Iyer -- tested positive for the virus during their mandatory isolation period before the start of the West Indies series.

Here's What Dinesh Karthik Said When Asked About Playing For CSK In IPL

Dinesh Karthik is currently putting in the hard yards in Mumbai under the guidance of friend and mentor Abhishek Nayar, focussed on sharpening his finishing skills in the T20 format. Not because the IPL auctions are around the corner. His plan is simple. The 36-year-old, who last played for India in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal, is committed to playing the game for "another 3-4 years" and is determined to make a national comeback in the shortest format.
