The hosts trail the three-match series 0-1, having lost the rain-hit 1st ODI in Lucknow by 9 runs. The BCCI took to social media to post some photos of the Indian cricketers undergoing training at JSCA International Stadium Complex. In the photos, the Indian players can be seen training under the watchful eyes of the Natioal Cricket Academy chief, VVS Laxman, who is filling in for Rahul Dravid as head coach, for the series.

A superb performance by medium-pacers Shardul Thakur (4 for 32) and Kuldeep Sen (3 for 30) helped set up a seven-wicket win for India 'A' against New Zealand 'A' in the first unofficial ODI on Thursday. Sent in to bat by India 'A' captain Sanju Samson, incisive bowling by Thakur and Sen had the visiting team in trouble from the start. At one stage, the New Zealanders looked in danger of being bundled out for less than 100 but some rearguard action by Michael Rippon (61, 104 balls, 4 fours) and Joe Walker (36, 49 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) helped them post 167 in 40.2 overs.

India A are currently squaring off against New Zealand A in a three-match unofficial ODI series. The ODIs are being followed by a three-match Test series, which India A won 2-0. The hosts also lead the ODI series 1-0, having defeated the visitors by seven wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday. The second and third ODIs will be played at the same venue on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively. After electing to bowl, India A bundled out New Zealand A for 167 in 40.2 overs.

Sanju Samson To Lead India A In One-Day Series vs New Zealand A

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will be leading India A in the upcoming one-day series against New Zealand A which will be played in Chennai. The series will begin on September 22, and the next two matches will be played on Septembe 25 and 27. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur and Umran Malik have also been named in the squad.

The second and third matches are scheduled for September 25 and 27 respectively. Prithvi Shaw, who has been in fine form in the Duleep Trophy, is back in the mix along with most players, who were part of the ODI series in Zimbabwe.

India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson said on Monday that he believes that one should take whatever is happening in his/her career in a positive manner. Samson steered Team India's ship in the second ODI when two quick strikes from pacer Luke Jongwe left India at 97/4 during their chase of 162 runs. It was Samson who scored an unbeaten 43* off 39 balls and took India to a win.

After sitting out of the first ODI, India all-rounder Shardul Thakur bowled an excellent spell on his return to the playing XI for the second ODI against Zimbabwe. Shardul bowled a match-winning spell, taking three for 38 in seven overs as India bowled out Zimbabwe for a paltry total of 161 after electing to bowl. In the 12th over, Shardul dismissed opener Innocent Kaia off the first ball, before also getting the better of Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakabva on the final ball. He then added a third after castling Luke Jongwe in the 33rd over.
