England pacer James Anderson on Saturday became the first fast bowler to claim 700 Test wickets. The 41-year-old achieved the feat during Day 3 of the ongoing 5th Test against India in Dharamsala. Anderson dismissed Kuldeep Yadav early in the morning session, becoming only the third bowler to claim 700 or more Test wickets. Only Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708) took more Test wickets than Anderson (700). On day 2, Anderson had cleaned up Shubman Gill to move to 699 Test wickets.
Josh Hazlewood took a five-wicket haul to skittle New Zealand for 162 as Australia held the whip hand at the end of day one of the second test in Christchurch on Friday.
India's left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav channeled his inner Shane Warne as he dismissed the well-settled Zak Crawley in the second session of Day 1 of the 5th Test against England. Crawley, until the moment he faced this delivery from Kuldeep, was brilliant in picking up Indian bowlers. But, the said delivery from the chinaman spinner completely bamboozled him. Finding the fine gap between Crawley's bat and pad, the ball shattered the England batter's stumps, leaving everyone stunned. It was also reported that the ball spun more than 10 degrees.
England's experienced right-arm seamer James Anderson is just two more scalps away from 700 Test wickets as he prepares himself for the fifth Test of the ongoing five-match Test series against India. The fifth Test starts in Dharamsala on Thursday. Anderson has snapped a total of 698 wickets so far in 186 Tests at an average of 26.51 where he has conceded runs at an economy of 2.79 with 32 four-wicket hauls and 32 five-wicket hauls.
A modern-day great, Ravichandran Ashwin scaled a new mountain on Friday as India took on England on Day 1 of the 4th Test in Ranchi. The veteran spinner bagged his 100th wicket against England in Tests as he dismissed Jonny Bairstow LBW in the morning session. Ashwin, in the process, became the first Indian to claim 100 scalps against England in the longest format of the game. Ashwin reached the milestone in his 23rd Test against the Englishmen. The overall list is led by the legendary Shane Warne, who bagged a whopping 195 wickets against England in 36 Tests.
