Star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was denied his double century in the first innings of the ongoing 1st Test against Sri Lanka by Pakistan captain Shan Masood, who declared the innings at 448/6 on Day 2. In one of the rare instances in Test cricket, Pakistan pair Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan had to run between the wickets to add 4 runs to their total on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh. It was Shakeel who drove a ball towards mid-off on the bowling of Nahid Rana. Shoriful Aslam, placed at mid-off, managed to get his hand on the ball, hence reducing the speed. Though his fielding prevented the ball from touching the boundary rope, the Pakistani duo still managed to run between the wickets and complete four runs.

Coming in to bat at no. 4 after the dismissal of captain Shan Masood, Babar soon followed suit. Babar edged a delivery by Shoriful Islam, which was grabbed behind the stumps by a diving Litton Das. While it was Babar's eighth duck in Test cricket, he also brought up an unwanted first.

Left-handers Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub hit fighting half-centuries to help Pakistan recover to 158-4 on a rain-hit opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. Shakeel was unbeaten on 57 at the close while Ayub scored 56 for his maiden fifty during an innings-building stand of 98 for the fourth wicket after Pakistan were tottering at 16-3. Shakeel brought up 1,000 runs in his 11th Test when he reached 33 and hit five boundaries in his seventh half-century. He added a further 44 for the fifth wicket with Mohammad Rizwan, who was unbeaten on 24.

Bangladesh left-arm paceman Shoriful Islam took two wickets in four balls to leave Pakistan struggling at 81-3 on a rain-hit opening day of the first Test in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. The 23-year-old spearhead removed the home team's skipper Shan Masood for six and then star batter Babar Azam for a two-ball duck before Pakistan launched their recovery on a greenish pitch. Saim Ayub was unbeaten on 42 and Saud Shakeel on 28 at the break, having added a fighting 65 in their fourth-wicket stand.

The start of the first Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test in Rawalpindi has not been good at all for the home side. The Shan Masood-led Pakistan were reduced to 16/3 at one point of time with Abdullah Shafique (2), Shan Masood (6) and Babar Azam (0) failing to leave any impact. Babar Azam was caught by Litton Das, with Babar attempting to steer the ball down the leg-side. On Babar Azam's glance, Das took a diving one-handed catch of Shorful Islam.
