The Indian government has cleared the Pakistan football team's participation in the SAFF Cup in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Thursday. AIFF secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran said India has "done its part" by clearing Pakistan's participation in the eight-nation regional tournament and it's now up to the neighbouring country to complete the formalities.
Pakistan has confirmed its participation in the South Asian Football Federation Championships in Bengaluru in June-July and the AIFF does not see any problem with the players of the neighbouring country travelling to India. The international tournament will also see participation of Lebanon and Kuwait as the SAFF executive committee in March decided to feature teams from outside the south Asian region with a view to make the championship more competitive. "We don't see any problem in the coming of players from Pakistan to India to participate in the SAFF Championships," All Indian Football Federation secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran told PTI.

CBI officials visited the All India Football Federation (AIFF) headquarters in Delhi last week and sought more information about the clubs and their investments. Sources said the CBI is investigating claims that Singapore-based match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal, first jailed for match-fixing in Singapore in 1995 and convicted in Finland and Hungary, has invested in Indian clubs through Living 3D Holdings Ltd. The international match-fixer is notorious for having rigged games at all levels, including the Olympics, World Cup qualifiers, women’s World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup and African Cup of Nations.

Santosh Trophy National Championships in Saudi Arabia early next year. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey and Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with their Saudi Arabian counterparts to "study the possibility to stage the final stages of the Santosh Trophy" in the West Asian country in February 2023". "The idea is to host the knock-out phase of Santosh Trophy in select cities of Saudi to encourage State level players to dream big and also to connect the large Indian community in Saudi with Indian football and create a win-win situation for both the Federations," the AIFF said in a release.
Indian men's football team head coach Igor Stimac on Tuesday signed a contract extension, which will keep him in charge of the 'Blue Tigers' till the end of next year's AFC Asian Cup. The decision to extend the contract was recommended by the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) technical committee last month, and was subsequently ratified by the executive committee in their respective meetings in Kolkata last month. The executive committee also accepted the recommendations of the technical committee that should India make it to the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup, the coach's contract should be automatically renewed.
