Pakistan's left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi continued his superb rise in international cricket, adding the Pakistan Super League title to his growing list of accolades.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has become the youngest captain to win a major T20 league title, as his team Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultan in the Pakistan Super League final in Lahore. Previously, Australia's former captain Steve Smith held the honour, having led Sydney Sixers to the Big Bash title in 2012 at the age of 22. For someone who had never captained at any level, Afridi's appointment as captain of the Lahore franchise had come as a big surprise to cricket fans before the start of the PSL but, on Sunday night, he proved that the Lahore management had taken the right decision.
Lahore Qalandars finally rid themselves of the status of franchise cricket’s lovable underachievers as they claimed the HBL Pakistan Super League title for the first time on Sunday night.
Iftikhar Ahmed and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr have been added to the Pakistan Test squad for the first match of the three-match series against Australia.
Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the Australia series with a foot injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday. Australia will tour Pakistan for three Tests, three ODIs, and one T20I. The first Test will be played in Rawalpindi from March 4. "Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the series with a foot injury. He will not be replaced in the side," PCB said in a statement. Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed have been added as traveling reserves. They will only be considered for selection if there is an injury.
Jason Roy's magnificent innings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Lahore Qalandars got the cricket fraternity talking. Legendary West Indies cricketer Viv Richards, who is a part of the Quetta Gladiators support staff was among many who gave his "approval" to the brilliant innings. Roy smashed 116 off just 57 balls to help Quetta chase down a stiff 205-run target in 19.3 overs with seven wickets in hand. Roy hit eight sixes and 11 fours in his blistering innings against perhaps the best bowling attack of PSL which included Rashid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.
Jason Roy's blistering hundred powered Quetta Gladiators to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Monday. Roy took a strong Lahore bowling attack comprising Rashid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf to the cleaners, scoring 116 off just 57 balls as Quetta reached the stiff target of 205 in 19.3 overs. This was the second highest successful run-chase in the history of the tournament. Roy raced to his first 50 from 20 balls, while his second 50 came off 29 balls. He brought up his hundred in the 13th over with a big six over mid-wicket.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a big statement about the quality of cricket in the Pakistan Super League, which is currently in its 7th season. PSL 2022 got underway on January 27th with a match between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings. Pakistan recently impressed one and all with its performance in the ICC T20 World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions Australia in a closely fought semi-final. All the top Pakistan cricketers take part in the PSL along with some of the top cricketers from world over.
