El madrileño salvó las diferencias con su compañero de equipo y encontró buenas sensaciones cuando antes no las había. Se acercó, más que nunca, le batió con milésimas de margen en un par de ocasiones.

With the end of the session closing in he put in a time of 1:29.735, just 0.033s ahead of current champion, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
