Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams on US Open entry lists -- but that doesn't mean they'll play

Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic were on the official US Open entry lists released Wednesday, but that doesn't mean they'll necessarily play in the tournament — and in Djokovic's case, he can't, as of now, because he isn't vaccinated against COVID-19.
Novak Djokovic will need a dramatic u-turn from the US government to compete at the US Open, after organisers confirmed they would not lobby for exemptions on Covid vaccine rules, but Serena Williams is confirmed on the entry list. All non-US citizens need to be fully vaccinated to enter the country, and the Wimbledon champion has been clear that he has no plans to have a jab.
Serena Williams was included on the entry list for the US Open on Wednesday as was Novak Djokovic even though his refusal to be vaccinated will bar him from entering the country.
Both Williams sisters will be back at the National Bank Open this year.
