Carlos Alcaraz has played two matches in the night session so far at the French Open, and now he wants his quarter-final clash with Alexander Zverev to take place in daylight. Although the later start did not seem to be a problem for the Spanish teenager as he dispatched Sebastian Korda and Karen Khachanov with ease in his last two matches, Alcaraz thinks, out of fairness, that session times should be evened out among the final eight players.
PARIS: Carlos Alcaraz claimed Sunday that it would “not be fair” if he has to play his French Open quarter-final on Tuesday night with Rafael Nadal pushing for a daytime slot for his blockbuster clash with Novak Djokovic. Alcaraz has already played two night sessions at this year’s Roland Garros and could face a third when he tackles Alexander Zverev for a place in the semifinals. Nadal, who has made no secret of his dislike of playing clay court tennis after dark, and Djokovic have played just one night match apiece.
Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to make the fourth round at the French Open on Friday since Novak Djokovic in 2006. Alcaraz, 19, beat Sebastian Korda 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 as he avenged last month's loss to the American at Monte Carlo -- his only defeat on clay this year in 21 matches.
