The Indian cricket team came up with a disciplined bowling performance in the ODI series decider against Australia. Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each to restrict Australia to 269. Ravindra Jadeja was also highly economical giving only 34 runs in his 10 overs but could not scalp a wicket. There was a point in the Australian innings when Jadeja was frustrated after Siraj missed a tough catching opportunity.

Shubman Gill had a horrible start to the ODI series against Australia in Mumbai and things did not improve in the second match as he was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for a duck on Sunday. Gill was guilty of chasing a ball outside the off stump and Marnus Labuschagne completed a sharp catch at backward point to spell an unceremonious end to his innings. The young opener was visibly upset with himself for playing such a rash shot and he burst out a loud shout in anger after the dismissal.

Virat Kohli on Sunday once again became a victim of LBW dismissal. The batter was dismissed for 31 runs on the bowling of Nathan Ellis as he missed his flick down the leg side in the second ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam. His mode of dismissal was similar to that in the first ODI in which a Mitchell Starc delivery hit him on the pad and he had to depart for four runs. Former India captain and batter Sunil Gavaskar was unhappy over the fact that Kohli made the same mistake of playing across the line in the second ODI as well.

Australia stand-in skipper Steve Smith is well known for his fielding in the slip cauldron and he once again proved his mettle with a stunning catch during the second ODI encounter against India on Sunday. Mitchell Starc ended up claiming five wickets to bundle out India for 117 but the talking point was the catch that ended the innings of Hardik Pandya. Pandya ended up getting a thick edge on a delivery from Sean Abbott and it looked like the ball was too far from Smith at the slips. However, the veteran Aussie cricketer pulled off a full length to his right and his superman effort left India skipper Rohit Sharma and other teammates completely stunned at the dressing room.
