Ningún piloto pudo rebajar en la sesión vespertina el tiempo que por la mañana estableció el tailandés Somkiat Chantra (Kalex) como nuevo récord absoluto del circuito de Le Mans, en la primera tanda de entrenamientos libres del Gran Premio de Francia de Moto2. Ni Chantra ni ninguno de sus rivales pudo con el 1.36.108 que logró el tailandés, aunque por unos instantes el español Augusto Fernández (Kalex), lo había logrado, pero su registro fue anulado y el español se tuvo que conformar con la tercera plaza el primer día, superado en el último momento por su compatriota y campeón del mundo de Moto3 en 2021, Pedro Acosta (Kalex). Acosta acabó a 58 milésimas de segundo del tiempo de Chamtra, que no pudo rebajar su tiempo matinal, como tampoco Fernández o el italiano Stefano Manzi (Kalex).
