Stuart Broad sent down the most expensive over in Test history as India piled on tail-end runs at Edgbaston.
Stuart Broad for a 35-run over on Day 2 of the rescheduled fifth Test against England in Birmingham. Broad has now the unwarranted record of conceding most runs in an over in Test cricket's history. Bumrah and his blade went after Broad as the Englishman relived the horror of the 2007 inaugural T20 World Cup when the now retired India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh smashed him for 36 runs that had 6 sixes in it.
India's Rishabh Pant is the youngest wicketkeeper-batter in the history of Test cricket to reach the landmark of 2,000 runs. Pant, 24, reached this landmark during the fifth and final Test against England at Edgbaston on Friday. A four through the mid-wicket area in the 51st over bowled by pacer Matty Potts helped the star Indian keeper-batter reach the landmark. India were 174/5 at Tea due to an unbeaten 76-run stand between Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.
England have made two changes for their rescheduled Test match against India, with Sam Billings taking over from the unwell Ben Foakes and James Anderson back to lead the bowling attack.
Sam Billings will take on wicketkeeping duties for England in the rearranged fifth Test against India while James Anderson replaces Jamie Overton in the XI.
England on Thursday announced their playing XI for the rescheduled fifth Test against India that begins at Edgbaston on Friday. James Anderson, who was ruled out of the third Test against New Zealand, has returned to the team, replacing Jamie Overton. Sam Billings, who was Ben Foakes' COVID-19 replacement in the third Test against New Zealand, has been picked to keep wickets. "The Three Lions make one change to the side that won the third Test against New Zealand at Headingley, with Jimmy Anderson returning to the side in place of Jamie Overton," the England Cricket Board wrote in its official statement.
Billings has stepped into the team as a COVID substitute for Ben Foakes, whose place is in doubt while he undergoes five days of isolation.
England captain Ben Stokes has told county cricket’s Test hopefuls to watch and learn from his side’s fearless approach against New Zealand if they want to join the ranks.
