BUDAPEST — Lilly King has now won gold in every breaststroke event in her world championships career. Ryan Murphy is now an individual world champion for the first time.

The gold medallist in the 200m freestyle had to settle for bronze in the same event, with Romania’s David Popovici taking victory ahead of South Korea’s Hwang Sun-woo. BUDAPEST: American Katie Ledecky dominated the women's 1,500 metres freestyle event to claim her second gold medal at the swimming world championships in Budapest on Monday, while Italy's Thomas Ceccon smashed the men's 100m backstroke world record.
Ceccon shaved a quarter of a second off the 100m backstroke world record as he won in 51.60sec. "I didn't expect this time," Ceccon said. "I didnt expect to go so fast." Pilato was also delighted after she won the last final of the evening, the women's 100m breaststroke, by a fingernail.
