Royal Challengers Bengaluru's star players Virat Kohli and Cameron Green were involved in a funny moment during the side's IPL 2024 game against Kolkata Knight Riders at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Virat scored an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls in the first innings of the game and surpassed SunRisers Hyderabad's Heinrich Klaasen to become the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024. During the mid-innings presentation, Green showed up with the Orange Cap to give it to Kohli, and he ended up giving both the cap and the mic to the India player.
Former Indian cricket team batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth suggested massive changes to the Royal Challengers Bangalore playing XI in the IPL 2024 after their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. During a discussion on Star Sports, Srikkanth said that Will Jacks should be given a chance as an opener with Virat Kohli while Faf du Plessis should come out to play at No. 3. He also suggested that RCB should drop Alzarri Joseph as well as Rajat Patidar and include an Indian fast bowler like Akash Deep.
There has been a lot of speculation over Virat Kohli's inclusion in the Indian cricket team squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. While there are some who suggested that India should look at selecting a younger side, others think that the team will be incomplete without a talented veteran like Kohli. Following his brilliant half-century against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, Kohli gave a sharp response to his critics with a sly remark. “I know my name is quite attached to just promoting the game in many parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket, but I have still got it I guess,” he said. While his remark was praised by many, ex-India star Robin Uthappa believes that it was 'unnecessary' in the situation.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and India star batter Virat Kohli gifted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and India's upcoming middle-order batter Rinku Singh a bat following his side's loss to two-time champions at their home arena of M Chinnnaswamy Stadium on Friday. KKR also posted a picture of them on their official X handle, tweeting, "The bond we love to see! : @RCBTweets." Following Virat's gesture, Rinku posted an Instagram story, thanking Virat for "advice" and the bat.
The IPL 2024's start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been placid to say the least. The side have lost two out of three games and the first team this edition to not lose a match at home. The RCB side were bolstered by an unbeaten 83 from Kohli as they scored 182/6. But KKR reached the target with more than three overs to spare. Speaking on Star Sports, former England cricketer Stuart Broad spoke on the inadequacies of the RCB bowling line up. "In times like that you want to heap praise on KKR, you know six visits in a row they've taken a victory in Bengaluru. You have to look at the RCB bowling too, just watch KKR bowl cutters and slower balls and into the pitch, very difficult to one of the best batters ever, Virat Kohli, who wasn't able to time the ball consistently throughout," he said.
LSG vs PBKS Live Updates, IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants' stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran has won the toss and opted to bat against Punjab Kings in the 11th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday. LSG will aim to bounce back after suffering a 20-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals. Having yet to open their account, the Super Giants are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings. On the other hand, PBKS will look to return to winning ways after they lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by four wickets. (Live Scorecard)
It has been a tough start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season for Mitchell Starc after the Australian cricket team fast bowler was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a record Rs 24.75 crore in the auction. Starc has not taken any wicket in the two matches and against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, he ended up conceding 47 runs in 4 overs. Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Irfan Pathan believes that Starc is the most dangerous bowler when the ball is swinging but due to either pitches or playing conditions, he has not been effective in this year's competition till now.
