Zimbabwe defeated Ireland by five wickets in the first of three T20 men's internationals in Harare on Thursday.
Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie is looking forward to see how former Ulster rugby player Ross Adair and Stephen Doheny adapt to international cricket ahead of their respective debuts tomorrow against Zimbabwe in the T20I series.
Adair, who joined the Belmont club from CSNI during the winter, has made an immediate impact and recorded a second century of the season against the Shaws Bridge side with 146 of his runs on Saturday coming via boundaries – 14 fours and 15 trademark maximums.
The Belmont club have won the NCU’s premier club competition four times in the past six seasons – including in 2019 before defending it two years later after an enforced Covid delay – and come into this campaign, once again, amongst the favourites.
The 28-year-old was one of the more high-profile transfers during the off-season after he swapped CSNI for reigning Gallagher Challenge Cup champions CIYMS.
Perhaps the most impressive performance came from Lisburn, who shocked CIYMS at Belmont to run out victors by nine wickets.
