Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma suffered a slight injury scare one day ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval. During the optional practice session on Tuesday, the right-handed opener was struck on his right thumb and in pictures which were posted on social media by various journalists, he could be seen applying tape. The India skipper left practice after he was hit and although he was out in the middle after some time, he did not take part in the drills.

Former Indian cricket team skipper Sunil Gavaskar picked his preferred playing XI for India in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia and it came with a couple of surprises. In the race for wicket-keeper, he picked KS Bharat to retain his position as he has been playing for the side regularly. Gavaskar also went with two spinners at the Oval and three pace bowlers but added that this strategy will work on a “bright day” and any change in playing conditions will change the combination.

The Indians are taking the Mitchell Starc threat very seriously and if one goes by their second training session at The Oval ahead of the World Test Championship final, they are yet to decide between Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat as their wicket-keeping choice. Australia trained in the morning in cold and overcast conditions, but the Indians brought sunshine to The Oval when they turned up in the afternoon session. Though it was an optional session, the majority of the members showed up barring Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and reserve player Suryakumar Yadav.
