From playing as a middle-order batter in his early days to becoming the fastest opener to reach the landmark of 8,000 ODI runs, Rohit has come a long way since making his debut in 2007. During his initial years with the Indian team, Rohit found it difficult to crack the code, until legendary India captain MS Dhoni converted him to an opener.

Rohit Sharma's Absolute Praise For Hardik Pandya After India's Win Over Sri Lanka

It was Kuldeep Yadav who bagged the most wickets for India in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka but he wasn't the only bowler who impressed skipper Rohit Sharma. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit extolled allrounder Hardik Pandya for a phenomenal display with the ball against the Lankans, especially as the pitch was getting better for the batters to play as the day progressed. Hardik stepped up with the ball when the game was slipping from their hands and India were desperate for a wicket.

India captain Rohit Sharma has the reputation of being one of the finest fielders in the game. As India took on Sri Lanka in the Super 4 match on Tuesday, Rohit's catching abilities came in handy to the team. The Lankans truly tested the Indian team, first with the ball then with the bat. Despite India's early success with the ball, the hosts dug deep and threatened the visitors' progression to the final, especially till Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka was in the middle. It was Ravindra Jadeja who got rid of Shanaka, all thanks to a brilliant catch from Rohit Sharma. The importance of the wicket can be understood by seeing the sort of celebration Virat Kohli had with the skipper afterwards.

Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka said that he was confident that the young left-arm orthodox spinner Dunith Wellalage would do something special against India after watching his performance against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023. While spinners from either side dominated the game, the pacers, too, played a part in India's 41-run victory over the co-hosts.
