Shubman Gill will miss India's World Cup meeting with Afghanistan, the country's cricket board (BCCI) said on Monday, as the in-form opener continues his recovery from dengue fever.
Team India's opener Subhman Gill is recovering fast from Dengue, the batsman missed the opener of the ODI World Cup and now he could miss the game against Afghanistan also as he is in the mode of recovering. But the buzz was there that he would stay in Chennai for rest or be at his home in Chandigarh but not at all packed his bag for Delhi. A source told ANI, "Subhman Gill is recovering and he will be travelling with the team to Delhi, he will be with the team and is not likely to go to his home Chandigarh for rest we hope that he will be back on the field before the match against Pakistan and playing against Afghanistan will depend on his next report."
India's star batter Shubman Gill, who is reportedly down with dengue fever, is set to miss the team's second Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan, confirms BCCI. Gill was ruled out of India's opening match of the World Cup against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai having been down with fever for the last few days. In the match against Australia, Ishan Kishan replaced the opening batter, pairing up with India captain Rohit Sharma.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul engineered one of the great fightbacks in ODI cricket as India defeated Australia to open their World Cup campaign in style in Chennai on Sunday.
Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood on Sunday absolved Mitchell Marsh of blame for committing one of cricket's biggest sins -- dropping a catch that would have seen the back of India superstar Virat Kohli. Chasing just 200 to win their high-profile World Cup clash, India looked like slipping to 20-4 when Kohli top-edged a pull to square leg where Marsh was waiting to gobble up the catch. However, possibly distracted by wicketkeeper Alex Carey also rushing to the danger area, Marsh let the ball slip to the ground.
Ashish Shelar, the honorary treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Sunday that India will not be donning an alternate match kit during their high-octane ICC World Cup clash against Pakistan on October 14. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will clash in their World Cup match at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Virat Kohli added another major milestone to his already illustrious career as he broke Sachin Tendulkar's stunning record during the Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Australia in Chennai on Sunday. Kohli scored a gritty half-century to guide India to victory and in the process, became the highest run-scorer for the Indian cricket team in ICC limited-over tournaments (World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy). The record previously belonged to Tendulkar who scored 2718 runs in 58 appearances. On the other hand, Kohli now has 2785 runs in 64 appearances.
KL Rahul missed out narrowly on a century but was able to guide India to a win over Australia in their opening match of the Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday. Rahul remained unbeaten on 97 off 115 deliveries and he was the one who slammed the winning runs for his side. However, his reaction after winning the final six of the game has gone viral on social media. India were in deep trouble during their 200-run chase as skipper Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan were all dismissed without scoring a single run. Rahul stitched together a brilliant partnership with Kohli as both the batters scored half-centuries and India were able to win the game comfortably in the end.
