The itinerary is set to unfold with a three-match T20I series (December 10 to 14), followed by a three-match ODI series (December 17 to 21). The final leg of the tour comprises a two-match Test series (from December 26), which will be a part of the ICC World Test Championship. South Africa remains a challenging place for India, particularly in Test cricket where a series victory has proven elusive. Despite previous Indian teams showing promise, they have fallen short of making history in South Africa. In three decades, India have won only four Test matches in South Africa.

Team India is now up for it's new assignment, which is an all-format tour of South Africa. The series will kick start from December 10 with three T20Is, followed by as many ODIs from December 17, and will be concluded by a two-match Test series from December 26.

McCullum was in Bengaluru for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Innovation Lab's Leader's Meet: India which was held last week and addressed a convergence of global sporting stakeholders. "Yeah. I like his captaincy (Rohit Sharma's captaincy). I think his captaincy is bold. He takes risks and he takes the game on. And when you add the talent base of India to these kinds of tactics, then he can achieve very good things. He has been a great leader for not just India but for Mumbai Indians over the years as well," said McCullum to ANI about Rohit's captaincy.

Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian Team Leaves For South Africa Tour

The Indian cricket team departed from Bengaluru on Tuesday night for their tour to South Africa. The Men in Blue, including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, head coach Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Siraj among others departed from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru for the tour. The all-format tour of South Africa will kickstart from December 10 with a three-match T20I series which will go on till December 14. From December 17, the ODI leg of the white-ball series will start which will conclude on September 21.

Former Indian cricket team fast bowler S Sreesanth namedropped MS Dhoni in a massive praise for current skipper Rohit Sharma. In a recent interaction, Sreesanth called Rohit a 'street-smart cricketer' and pointed out that much like Dhoni, he makes sure to back his bowlers and fielders even when the going gets tough on the field. He cited the example of the recently concluded Cricket World Cup 2023 and said that Rohit kept backing players in the competition even when they were not playing well.
