Ravindra Jadeja played one of the finest innings of his career during the third Test match vs England. He scored a superb century at his home ground Rajkot while batting in first innings. After opting to bat first at the venue, India were struggling at 33 for 3 when Jadeja stitched a solid 204-run partnership with captain Rohit Sharma to take the hosts out of trouble. Jadeja eventually got out at the score of 112 on Day 2. It was a second consecutive Test century for Jadeja at the venue and fourth overall in Test cricket.
The third India vs England Test has seen its moments with two more days of play remaining. The first day of the contest saw tons from Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. However, one person who was talked bout the most was debutant Sarfaraz Khan. After much wait and solid performances in domestic cricket, the Mumbai batter made his India debut. He even scored a 48-ball half-century - the joint-fastest by an Indian Test debutant in the post-independence era.
Yashasvi Jaiswal ruled the roost on Saturday as the young India opener raced to his third Test century. During his second innings in the Rajkot Test match against England, Jaiswal crafted a superb knock that helped him reclaim his authority over the Three Lions in the ongoing five-match Test series. After a slow and careful start, the southpaw raced to his half-century in 80 balls before changing gears and competing his ton in 122 balls. Mighty pleased with Jaiswal reaching the three-figure mark, India captain Rohit Sharma erupted in joy in the dressing room. The reaction of Rohit is now going viral on social media.
Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has questioned captain Rohit Sharma's tactics during Day 2 of the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot. Manjrekar wasn't pleased with Rohit's usage of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as the fourth and fifth options during England's first innings on Friday. Riding on Ben Duckett's quickfire knock, England got off to a fiery start in response of India's 445 in the first innings. Rohit introduced Ashwin in the 12th over after Duckett had completed his half-century in 39-balls.
Sarfaraz Khan had a memorable debut for the Indian cricket team as he scored a fast-paced 62 in the first innings of the third Test vs England. The talented batter from Mumbai reached the 50-run mark in just 48 balls making him the joint-fastest half-centurion debutant for India in the post-Independence era. Sarfaraz Khan's international debut was an emotional moment for the cricketer as well as his family. His father Naushad could be seen wiping his tears as Sarfaraz received the Test cap from Anil Kumble.
Arguably the finest bowler in the world, Jasprit Bumrah produced a fine cameo with the bat on Day 2 of the third Test against England, scoring 26 runs off just 28 balls. Exhibiting a rare display of his batting prowess, Bumrah registered 3 fours and 1 six during his stay in the middle, powering the Indian team to 445 runs in the first innings at Rajkot. Seeing Bumrah hit some exquisite shots, including a six down the ground, even India captain Rohit Sharma was quite impressed.
India captain Rohit Sharma ended his bad run of form with a century on Day 1 of the ongoing third Test against England at the newly renamed Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Rohit alongwith Ravindra Jadeja, who also scored an unbeaten century, added 204 runs for the fourth wicket after India were reducted to 33/3 by the combination of Mark Wood and Tom Hartley. Rohit had aggregated just 93 runs in the last two Tests, but went past that mark alone in the first innings in Rajkot, slamming 131 in 196.
