The primary focal point of the BCCI's 93rd Annual General Meeting, to be held here on Sunday, will be to elect two representatives of India to the ICC meetings, as finding a successor to incumbent secretary Jay Shah is not on agenda. The meeting assumes importance because the International Cricket Council has scheduled a conclave in Dubai at the end of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley has rubbished reports suggesting that he might become the next BCCI secretary if Jay Shah is elected chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). There have been reports that the current BCCI secretary Jay Shah is likely to be appointed as the next chairman of ICC as Greg Barclay has decided not to seek another tenure as chief of ICC.

There seems to be no end to troubles for Delhi cricket as former skipper Nitish Rana and last year's top run-getter in Ranji Trophy Dhruv Shorey have sought No Objection Certificate (NOC) from DDCA to ply their trade for other states during the upcoming domestic season. The development was confirmed by DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda on Friday although he assured that both cricketers will be spoken to and given a patient hearing to find out why they want to take such a decision.

Roger Binny, former Indian cricket team star and member of the 1983 World Cup winning team, is likely to be the next BCCI President replacing Sourav Ganguly, sources told NDTV. Binny is currently serving as an office bearer in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). He has previously served as a member of the BCCI selection committee. The name of Ganguly, a former India captain who became the BCCI president in October, 2019, is likely being discussed as the next International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, the sources added.

To hear plea for amendment to constitution on July 28NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear next week a plea of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) for amendment of its court-approved constitution to enable its president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah complete their three year terms by ducking the mandatory cooling off period. While fixing July 28 for hearing on the more than two-year-old application of BCCI, a bench of Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli appointed senior advocate Maninder Singh as amicus curiae.

With the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) waiting till the last hour before having its selection meeting for the Ranji Trophy, officials, coach and selectors in the premises were bemused by Ishant Sharma going incommunicado for the last few days. Minutes before the meeting commenced, DDCA president Rohan Jaitley got through to Ishant and the veteran pacer informed that he was unwilling to play Ranji Trophy. Around 10 days ago, Ishant had told a member of the team management that he was keen to play the Ranji Trophy! Ishant's reluctance has come at a time when Indian cricket seems to be close to hitting the transition button in Test cricket. TOI understands that the team management is laying out a plan to move on from Ishant, Wriddhiman Saha, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. While Saha had communicated to Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) that he is not available for the Ranji Trophy, DDCA waited to hear from Ishant before picking the team which is scheduled to leave for Guwahati on Thursday morning. TOI has learnt that both Saha and Ishant have been spoken to about their future by the senior members of team management and the national selectors. "They have been told that the Indian team management is looking to groom the next line of players. Their chances of playing Tests might have dropped substantially," a BCCI source told TOI.
