Roger Federer admitted Saturday that "things are moving slowly" in his attempt to recover from knee surgery.
The 20-time Grand Slam title winner and former world number one has not played since a quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon almost a year ago. He then underwent a third surgery on his knee while his world ranking has slumped to 50, his lowest in 22 years.
Rafael Nadal's uncle and former coach Toni has admitted that he believes his nephew could win Wimbledon despite uncertainty over whether he will play the tournament. The Spaniard has won the first two Grand Slams of the season for the first time in his career but has since undergone a new radiofrequency treatment for his chronic foot injury and will only appear at the All England Club if it is successful.
Roger Federer has admitted he will reduce his schedule if he is able to make a successful return to competition following his third knee surgery. The 20-time Grand Slam champion is set to comeback at the Laver Cup before playing his first tournament at the Swiss Indoors Basel and has been discussing travelling with his family.
It should have been a moment of undiluted triumph, said Tumaini Carayol in The Guardian. In Sunday’s French Open final, Rafael Nadal romped past Norway’s Casper Ruud to win 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, proving yet again why he is the “king of clay”. The victory – the Spaniard’s 14th at the tournament – moves his grand slam tally to 22, two clear of both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. It also made him, at 36, the oldest ever male champion at Roland Garros.

Mischa Zverev said that his brother Alexander would look to emulate Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as he plans his return from the injury he suffered at the French Open. Nadal was Zverev’s opponent in the semi-finals at Roland-Garros last week as he rolled his ankle, and had to leave the court in a wheelchair. Reports earlier this week suggested that a ligament injury could keep him out for two months, and he would miss Wimbledon as a result.
Toni Nadal is backing Rafael Nadal to compete at Wimbledon this year despite his foot injury while his doctor says they will only know in a couple of days if his latest treatment is going according to plan.
