Ahead of the final, CSK veteran, Ambati Rayudu had said that the summit clash would be his last match in the IPL. After the title triumph, a magnanimous visual played on the TV screens. The 4th Test between India and Australia in Ahmedabad witnessed spectacular scenes as the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the venue, marking 75 years of friendship with Australia through cricket. The two PMs shared special Test caps with the respective captains of their countries before going for a lap of honour. But, the highlight of the occasion was arguably the moment when PM Modi stood with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the national anthem.

With an eye on the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the BCCI has shortlisted a pool of 20 players, sources told NDTV. Also, top players could be asked to skip the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the BCCI wanting players to focus on ICC events, and to avoid injury problems. The decision was taken during BCCI's performance review meeting, which took place at a seven star hotel in Mumbai. In attendance were coach Rahul Dravid, Captain Rohit Sharma, NCA chairman VVS Laxman, ex Chief selector Chetan Sharma. Board President Roger Binny joined through video conferencing.
