Mumbai Indians on Saturday announced that former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has been named the head coach of their MI Emirates team in the United Arab Emirates-based International League T20 (ILT20) competition. Bond, who is also Mumbai Indians' bowling coach in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will be assisted by Parthiv Patel (batting coach), Vinay Kumar (bowling coach) and James Franklin (fielding coach). Former India international Robin Singh has been appointed the franchise's general manager.
MI Emirates on Saturday confirmed that former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond will be their head coach for the inaugural season of the International League T20. It is important to note that Bond is the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The coaching team includes current Mumbai Indians talent scouts, Parthiv Patel and Vinay Kumar who will debut as coaches - Parthiv Patel as Batting Coach, Vinay Kumar as Bowling coach and former MI all-rounder James Franklin as fielding coach.
Mumbai Indians batting coach Robin Singh on Friday backed his out-of-form skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan to find their touch in the remaining matches of IPL 15. Kishan, who was bought by the five-time champions for Rs 15.25 crore, started well but soon suffered a slump in form and has so far failed to justify his price-tag. The Jharkhand dasher has managed to score just 199 runs from eight matches at an average of 28.43.
IPL champions Mumbai Indians on Tuesday set the ground running for their 2022 campaign. The 12-day strength and conditioning pre-season camp, ahead of Mumbai Indians' first match, is being held at their in-house training facility at Reliance Jio Stadium in neighbouring Navi Mumbai. "Mumbai Indians will also play a couple of inter-squad practice matches towards the second week of the camp," a media statement issued by Mumbai Indians stated.
After UAE sealed qualification for the T20 World Cup last week, coach Robin Singh said he will now turn his attention to working out which players will be best suited to succeed in Australia.
