Big Decision Pending For Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson Can Only Keep Wickets If...

Sanju Samson flew to Bengaluru from Guwahati on Monday to seek clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for keeping wickets in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Samson has so far played in the tournament as a sole batter coming in as an impact substitute with Riyan Parag leading the franchise. The wicketkeeper-batter was only granted a temporary go-ahead to play in the ongoing IPL following surgery on his right index finger.

Riyan Parag Target Of Internet Yet Again - This Time For 'Phone Throw' Incident After RR vs CSK IPL 2025 Match

Riyan Parag's captaincy stint with the Rajasthan Royals yielded its first win for the franchise at the IPL 2025 as it won against Chennai Super Kings by six runs. With Sanju Samson's role limited in the initial matches for RR due to injury, Parag was chosen as the leader. The Assam-born star has been a constant for RR over the past few years. Though he had his share of critics, regular good performances in the domestic competitions saw his stock rise. In fact in IPL 2024, he ended up scoring 573 in 16 matches at an average of 52.09 with a strike-rate of 149.22.

New Zealand batting great Kane Williamson lavished praise on Nitish Rana, calling his 36-ball 81 an "incredible knock of the highest standard" and also credited Rajasthan Royals' fielding for their six-run win over Chennai Super Kings. Nitish, coming to bat at number 3, produced a match-winning performance as RR posted 182 for nine and then restricted CSK to 176-6 to open their account this season. Wanindu Hasaranga's four wickets and some sensational fielding, including stand-in skipper Riyan Parag's incredible one-handed catch to dismiss Shivam Dube, were key moments of the match.

Riyan Parag Reveals Masterplan Against MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja In Death Overs

Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered thrilling 6-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati on Sunday, securing their first win of the season under stand-in captain Riyan Parag. Despite putting up 182/9 on the board, Parag felt his team fell short with the bat but made up for it with an excellent bowling and fielding display. "Took a lot of time, just two games, but felt really long. We still think we were 20 short. We lost a couple of wickets quickly (in the middle overs). But we bowled really well. We have had two tough games, but the chat was to forget those games, come with a fresh mindset, and have a good game collectively," Parag said, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo.

"I Don't Believe In...": Nitish Rana's Big Praise For Captain Riyan Parag After RR's First Win

Nitish Rana delivered a verdict on Riyan Parag's captaincy and traced down the turning point for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings during the pulsating clash in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After two defeats on the trot, Parag got hands on his first win as Rajasthan skipper after the Royals edged out the Super Kings to secure a slender 6-run victory on Sunday. Parag's leadership was on the radar after Rajasthan's bowling unit paid through the nose and their batters tilted at windmills, leading to a disjointed set of performances on the field.

IPL 2025: Asked About CSK's Poor Form, Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad Gives Unfiltered Reply

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad blamed their poor starts and fielding lapses as key reasons behind their six-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL on Sunday, marking their second consecutive loss. Nitish Rana's blistering 36-ball 81, combined with Wanindu Hasaranga's four-wicket haul, powered Rajasthan Royals to a hard-fought win at the Barsapara Stadium. Chasing 183, CSK lost Rachin Ravindra for duck while Rahul Tripathi got out after the power play as they finished at 176/6. They had lost their last match at home to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a first in 17 years.

Rana, Hasaranga help Rajasthan Royals to first season win in IPL

GUWAHATI, India: Nitish Rana’s batting blitz combined with a four-wicket haul by Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga led Rajasthan Royals to their first victory of this IPL season against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Rajasthan depended on a 36-ball 81 by Rana to post 182-9 after being invited to bat first at their second home in Guwahati. Hasaranga then turned on the heat with his leg-spin to help restrict Chennai to 176-6 and a six-run win to bounce back from two losses in the T20 tournament. The left-handed Rana put on 82 for the second wicket with Sanju Samson to lay the foundations. Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad once again proved his worth as he broke the stand with the wicket of Samson, who is Rajasthan’s regular captain but playing only as a batsman due to an injury. Rana reached his fifty in 21 balls and bludgeoned the bowlers with 10 fours and five sixes in his stay at the crease. Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin cut short Rana’s knock as he had the batsman stumped to check Rajasthan’s surge. Stand-in-skipper Riyan Parag hit 37 off 28 balls before being bowled by Sri Lankan pace bowler Matheesha Pathirana. Pace spearhead Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Jofra Archer for a duck for his second wicket. Noor and Pathirana both returned figures of 2-28. In Chennai’s reply, Archer struck in the first over to have Rachin Ravindra caught behind for a duck as he celebrated his first wicket this IPL season. Archer had a disastrous start to the tournament when he went for 76 in his four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad for the league’s most expensive bowling figures ever. Hasaranga struck with his first ball to send back Rahul Tripathi before skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad attempted to put the chase on track
