"So Much Depth": Venkatesh Prasad's Heartfelt Post On Ravichandran Ashwin Goes Viral

Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad posted a heartfelt message for Ravichandran Ashwin after the latter opened up about his exclusion from India's World Test Championship (WTC) Final squad. The Rohit Sharma-led side decided to play just one spinner in the form of Ravindra Jadeja but the decision backfired as they were defeated by Australia at the Oval. Ashwin recently spoke about the entire incident and Prasad extended his support to the veteran India spinner. "So much depth, empathy and awareness. What a champion is @ashwinravi99, on the field and off it," he tweeted.

Ravichandran Ashwin became the central talking-point among cricket fans on social media after he decided to take DRS on an already reviewed decision in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Though Ashwin's efforts went in vain, the video of the incident went viral on social media. After the match, the off-spinner also explained that he decided to review the call thinking the third umpire would analyse another angle. Now, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has reacted to the incident, saying what happened was 'beyond his understanding'.

"Should've Never Become A Bowler": R Ashwin On 'Regret' He Would Have Post Retirement

One of the sharpest minds in the game and the world's no. 1 Test bowler at the moment, yet Ravichandran Ashwin finds it tough to break into the Indian team when it comes to overseas assignments. After Ashwin was left out of India's playing XI for the World Test Championship final against Australia in London, he received support from some former cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar, in fact, said that the 'horses for courses' philosophy is only applicable on bowlers.

Unarguably an icon for this generation of cricketers, Ravichandran Ashwin's numbers speak for themselves. The spinner has tormented batting attacks from all across the world, especially in red-ball cricket. However, there was a phase in Ashwin's life where an injury forced him to think long and hard about his career. In fact, Ashwin had told his wife Prithi that the home series against Australia (earlier this year) could become his last. In an interview, Ashwin opened up on that phase in his career and more.

The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 isn't just proving to be an enthralling contest between the bat and the ball but also between players and officials. During the match between Dindigul Dragons vs Ba11sy Trichy in Coimbatore, two DRS reviews were taken on the same delivery, in a never-seen-before incident. It was India's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin deciding to review the matter for the second time on the same ball after the third umpire had overturned the on-field umpire's decision following the batter's DRS review.

"My Bowling Overseas Has Been...": Ravichandran Ashwin Breaks Silence On WTC Final Snub

Ravichandran Ashwin, the No. 1 Test bowler in the world, couldn't find a place in the Indian team's playing XI for the World Test Championship final against Australia. For many, Ashwin's absence from the team was one of the biggest reasons behind India's defeat in the final. The off-spinner, who himself is one of his biggest critics, opened up on the heartbreaking decision by the team management, admitting that he would've loved to feature in the title-decider.

Ravichandran Ashwin is arguably one of the finest all-rounders India ever-had. Despite his heroics in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, earlier this year, he was not named in the Playing XI against the same opponent for the World Test Championship final at The Oval. However, Ashwin seemed to have moved on from the snub as the 36-year-old spinner is currently playing in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 for the Dindigul Dragons and took his side to victory over Ba11sy Trichy on Wednesday.

ICC Test Rankings: Ajinkya Rahane Makes Big Gains, R Ashwin Remains No. 1 Bowler

India's comeback man Ajinkya Rahane on Wednesday climbed to the 37th position while Shardul Thakur rose to 94th among batters, even as Ravichandran Ashwin maintained his top spot among Test bowlers despite not featuring in the World Test Championship final. In a rare achievement, batters from Australia occupy the top three places in the rankings as Steve Smith and Travis Head joined top-ranked Marnus Labuschagne following their centuries in the WTC final win against India at The Oval.
