Who Is Tanush Kotian? 26-Year-Old Set To Replace R Ashwin In India Squad For Border-Gavaskar Trophy

With legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announcing his retirement, 26-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian has been reportedly selected to join Team India's squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Although an official announcement is yet to be made, reports suggest that Kotian is set to depart for Australia on Tuesday and join up with the rest of the squad, ahead of the fourth Test in Melbourne from Boxing Day. But who is Tanush Kotian? And why has he been picked over more recognized names like Yuzvendra Chahal or Axar Patel?

Ex-MI Pacer Claims 10 Wickets In Single Innings Of Ranji Trophy, Creates History

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj entered the record books on Friday as he became only the third bowler in the history of Ranji Trophy to claim all 10 wickets in an innings. Kamboj, 23, achieved the feat in the home team's Group C game against Kerala at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium on the outskirts of Rohtak. Kamboj ended with incredible figures of 10/49 in 30.1 overs. Kamboj played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League 2024, but was not retained as an uncapped player.

'Picked From IPL': Harbhajan Singh Blasts Selectors For Ignoring Ranji Trophy Record-Holder

Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh slammed the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee for ignoring Ranji Trophy record-holder Jalaj Saxena despite 17 years of playing in the domestic circuit. Saxena holds the unique distinction of  being the only player to have 400 wickets and 6000 runs to his name in Ranji Trophy history. However, he once again did not make the cut when the India A team was announced for the matches against Australia A. In response to a tweet mentioning Saxena's record, Harbhajan asked whether domestic tournaments are getting irrelevant with players getting picked from the IPL.

Virat Kohli's "My New Team" Post Sends Social Media Into Frenzy. Internet Says, "Gave A Shock To Nation"

Virat Kohli was one of the three retained players by Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. He became the costliest Indian player to be retained at Rs 21 crore. On the international front, Kohli has not been going through a smooth phase. Virat Kohli's scores in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand read 0, 70, 1, 17, 4, 1. And the reflection of that performance is clear on his ICC Test ranking. Courtesy his scores of 4 and 1 in the Mumbai Test that India lost, Kohli has dropped down eight places to 22nd. This is the India star's lowest in over 10 years. In August 2014, he was ranked 24th after a lean tour of England.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Told To "Forget Big Cars, VIP Treatment", Go Back To Domestic Cricket

The lack of domestic cricket taunts continue haunt Indian cricket team's seniors, with experts refusing to turn down the intensity of their criticism after 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand. Many still feel that the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would've benefitted had they decided to feature in the Duleep Trophy. Some even suggest that the duo should play the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif also holds a similar stance, suggesting the top stars should let go of their big cars, flights and VIP treatment and go back to domestic cricket.

Virat Kohli Last Played Ranji Trophy In 2012, Sachin Tendulkar In 2013: Stat Gets More Glaring After NZ Loss

The gruelling Test tour of South Africa had finished in early January of 2007 and towards the end of that month, India were playing West Indies in a bilateral ODI series as a tune-up to the 50-over World Cup set to be played in the Caribbean in a month and a half's time. India played four ODIs on January 21, 24, 27 and 31 at Nagpur, Chennai, Cuttack and Vadodara. On February 1, four members of that team -- Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar and Sourav Ganguly were all taking a flight from Vadodara to Mumbai.

Sanju Samson Told Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir He Wants To Play Tests. Their Honest Reply

Not yet a certainty in Team India's white-ball teams, but Sanju Samson isn't giving up hopes of making his Test debut for the nation. The wicket-keeper batter, who hit his maiden T20I ton in the match against Bangladesh, has made his dream of representing the country in red-ball cricket public. In fact, Samson has already had a chat with Team India's leadership group - head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma - about his Test ambitions. What's promising is the fact that Rohit and Gambhir, apparently, also see Samson as a player who can do well in Test cricket.

Ranji Trophy: Mayank Agarwal To Lead Karnataka In 1st Two Rounds, Focus On Prasidh Krishna

Out-of-favour India opener Mayank Agarwal was on Tuesday named as Karnataka's captain for their first two rounds of Ranji Trophy matches against Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, while pacer Prasidh Krishna will continue to chart his comeback to top-flight cricket through the domestic season. Karnataka will face MP at Indore from October 11, while the former champions will take on Kerala at Bengaluru from October 18. After a lukewarm Duleep Trophy, Agarwal will be eager to be among some big runs to impress the selectors, and Prasidh too need better numbers in the wicket column.
