Jos Buttler can do no wrong in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. On Tuesday, in the Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans, the Rajasthan Royals opener scored 89 off just 56 balls to help his team reach 188/6 in 20 overs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He hit 12 fours and two sixes en route to complete 700 runs in the ongoing edition of the IPL. In 15 matches, he has scored 718 runs so far. He is the sixth batter to score over 700 run in a single edition of the IPL.
Sanju Samson walked in to bat at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday with his side in a spot of bother. The woefully out of form Yashasvi Jaiswal had consumed 8 powerplay deliveries to score just 3 runs, before edging one to the keeper off Yash Dayal. Samson spent the first over in the middle watching Jos Buttler struggle from the other end. On his first delivery Samson did what Samson does.
Hardik Pandya is a livewire on the field and mostly a very safe fielder when it comes to taking catches. On Tuesday though Hardik slipped at a crucial moment during Gujarat Titans' IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 match against Rajasthan Royals. The Gujarat bowlers had done well to keep the Royals batters in check despite a whirlwind knock of 47 in 26 balls by captain Sanju Samson.
Hardik Pandya has been impressive as the Gujarat Titans captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Despite having no prior experience of leading a top side, the allrounder aced the job in GT colours. He has been great with the bat too while earlier in the season he regularly bowled. Pandya's astute captaincy was one of the main reasons behind GT becoming the first team to qualify for IPL 2022 playoffs. Pandya's team finished the league stage at the top position with most number of wins (10). His performance as the skipper has impressed former India coach Ravi Shastri.
Rajasthan Royals got off to a slow start in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 vs Gujarat Titans as left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal consumed 8 deliveries in the powerplay to score just 3 runs before perishing to a poor shot outside the off stump. The left hander tried to play a drive on the up against Yash Dayan but completely missed the ball.
Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will be taking on each other in Qualifier 1 of the ongoing IPL 2022 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Tuesday evening and the winner would directly go through to the final set to be played in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat had finished the league stage at the top of the table while Rajasthan followed closely behind at second.
India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin says he has "found a purpose in life", which is pushing the experimental boundaries without worrying much about the criticism that comes your way when you choose an uncharted terrain. Ashwin is relishing one his "happiest IPL seasons" even as his 11 wickets and 183 runs won't exactly describe the kind of impact he has made on Rajasthan Royals' campaign.
