Gujarat Titans to the Indian Premier League (IPL) title in their first season, winning the Twenty20 World Cup with India is next on Hardik Pandya's bucket list. Pandya led by example in Sunday's final against 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals as Gujarat triumphed by seven wickets in front of more than 100,000 fans at their home ground in Ahmedabad. Pandya claimed three crucial wickets, including that of the tournament's leading scorer Jos Buttler, to restrict Rajasthan to a total which Gujarat chased down with 11 balls to spare.
Rajasthan Royals star Jos Buttler was left distraught after his dismissal in the IPL 2022 final against Gujarat Titans. The Royals won the toss and opted to bat, but were set back by Yashasvi Jaiswal's early wicket. Buttler helped rebuild with captain Sanju Samson, but the latter too fell in the ninth over. With the onus on the season's leading run-getter to help the team put up a big score, Buttler looked to get going, but he was dismissed by Hardik Pandya for 39. He looked visibly angry at getting out and was seen tossing away his helmet in frustration as he walked back to the dug-out
The IPL 2022 final was a spectacle to behold at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and it was the home team -- Gujarat Titans that lifted the title after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final by seven wickets. Before the final started, it was Oscar winner AR Rahman and Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh who set the stage on fire during the closing ceremony. During the mid-innings break of the final, there was a light and sound show and it caught the attention of everyone involved.
It was nothing but a fairytale run for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 as the Hardik Pandya-led side went on to win the title in their debut season. The Gujarat-based franchise was able to outclass Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals in the summit clash and hence the ultimate glory was theirs. In the final, it was skipper Hardik Pandya who took three wickets with the ball, including the prized scalp of Jos Buttler. In the end, Gujarat went on to chase the total with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
Five-time IPL winner Hardik Pandya on Sunday said his latest triumph, while leading first-timers Gujarat Titans, is something the coming generations will talk about. Hardik's team capped off a dream campaign in its maiden season by lifting the Indian Premier League title with a seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the final.
Hardik Pandya's eagerness to learn as captain and his ability to effectively engage with his teammates contributed massively to Gujarat Titans' title-winning run on IPL debut, said team mentor Gary Kirsten on Sunday. Kirsten, who coached India to the 2011 World Cup title, was all praise for Hardik who excelled both as skipper and player in the team's very first season.
Rajasthan Royals opening batter Jos Buttler held the Orange Cap in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Englishman registered a whopping total of 863 runs in 17 matches, at an average of 57.53 and a strike rate of 149.05.
