West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder on Saturday was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 8.75 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction here in Bengaluru. Lucknow Super Giants also picked Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey for Rs 6.75 cr and Rs 4.60 cr respectively. Earlier in the day, Ravichandran Ashwin was acquired by Rajasthan Royals as the auction began in the afternoon.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday acquired the services of West Indies batter Shmron Hetmyer and young India batter Devdutt Padikkal on Day 1 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction in Bengaluru. Hetmyer was bought for Rs 8.5 crore while Padikkal was roped in for Rs 7.75 crore at the IPL auction. Ahead of the auction, Hetmyer was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) while Padikkal was let go by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Earlier in the day, the 2008 champions had also bought Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 5 crore.
South Africa batter Faf du Plessis was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crore while his compatriot Quinton de Kock was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 6.75 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction in Bengaluru on Saturday. A bidding war for Faf du Plessis took place between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Delhi Capitals. For Quinton de Kock Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians engaged in the bidding war.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore on Saturday said that his franchise has two solid captaincy options in the form of Pat Cummins and Shreyas Iyer. KKR picked up Cummins for Rs 7.25 crore and Iyer for Rs 12.25 in the ongoing IPL mega auction here in Bengaluru. "First of all, delighted with how the first session went for us. To get back Pat Cummins at that price, actually, we thought he would go at a higher price so we are delighted with that. Obviously, Shreyas is a quality Indian batter, so that's fantastic and we are very excited," said Mysore while replying to an ANI query during a virtual press conference.

The IPL 2022 mega auction is being held in Bengaluru and it is a two-day event that will get over on Sunday. Warner was picked up by Delhi for Rs 6.25 crore. Earlier in the auction, India opening batter Shikhar Dhawan was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore. Australia Test captain Pat Cummins was taken by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 7.25 crore.
10 teams, including the two new franchises -- Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans -- are set to battle it out for some of the biggest names in world cricket at the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction. A total of 590 players have registered for the mega event, which is scheduled to be held from February 12 to 13 in Bengaluru. Ahead of the auction, the 2016 champions SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have retained just three players -- Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik -- and will look to bolster their squad at the event.
