The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday said that the recently-held Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction recorded an increase of 57 per cent from the previous auction's viewers. Shah took to X (Formerly Twitter) to announce that the IPL auction drew a total of 22.8 million viewers, higher than those for auctions held in the 2022 auction. The IPL auction 2024 was held in Dubai on December 19.

The player to be at the center of this chaos was uncapped Indian Shashank Singh, who despite being bought in the auction, is unlikely to be in a happy mood knowing the franchise that made a successful bid for him, didn't even want him in the first place.
