Chelsea technical director Petr Cech says the Champions League holders have to take its future “day by day” with the Premier League club reportedly allowed to be sold. The UK government say Chelsea can continue to operate under a «special licence». The special licence allows Chelsea to fulfil fixture commitments, pay staff, including coaches and players, and spend up to £900,000 to host home fixtures; an increase from the £500,000 outlined when the sanctions were announced.
Chelsea's technical and performance advisor Petr Cech said the club are having to live "day-by-day" in the wake of sweeping economic sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich by the UK government. Abramovich was one of seven more oligarchs sanctioned this week by the UK following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Chelsea have been given a special licence to continue operating, but there are fears they will quickly run out of money unless the terms of that agreement are eased. As it stands the Blues are unable to sign players, renew contracts, sell tickets to matches or merchandise, with limits also on the amount of money they are allowed to spend on travel to away games.
Chelsea technical director Petr Cech says he ‘hopes’ Thomas Tuchel will remain at the club, despite speculation linking the German with an exit from Stamford Bridge following the sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich.
