World Endurance bosses have revealed a four-round calendar for 2023 in order to ‘offer consistency and stability during a period of economic uncertainty’.
By completing the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or last month, Team Aviobike ensured it achieved a 100 per cent finishing record in the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship. The Italian squad took the chequered flag in April’s 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans in 18th position among the Superstock category contenders. It then placed seventh in class in the 24H SPA EWC Motos at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in June.
BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team’s Markus Reiterberger began First Qualifying for the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or just like he’d finished this morning’s unofficial private practice with the fastest lap at Circuit Paul Ricard, as the Belgian team’s riders went quickest in three of the four segments. The two-time FIM Endurance World Championship race winner from Germany was quickest among the Blue Riders in a time of 1m52.267s. Josh Hook left it late to go second fastest for F.C.C.
Sylvain Guintoli is back on track in the FIM Endurance World Championship after injury forced him to miss last month’s 43rd Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race. Guintoli hurt his left hand during a fall in practice for Japan’s EWC counter but returned to riding duties for his Suzuki-powered Yoshimura SERT Motul team during testing for the 100th anniversary Bol d’Or yesterday (Tuesday).
Wójcik Racing Team doesn’t want its fifth place in the 24H SPA EWC Motos to mark the highlight of its FIM Endurance World Championship season and is therefore targeting an even better result when Circuit Paul Ricard hosts the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or this weekend. The Yamaha-powered, Dunlop-equipped Polish squad’s #77 entry features Mathieu Gines, Dan Linfoot and Sheridan Morais and Team Manager Adam Stępień has high hopes.
Erwan Nigon insists he won’t have an advantage over his Viltaïs Racing Igol team-mates when the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or takes place this weekend. Nigon was speaking during testing for the deciding round of the FIM Endurance World Championship at Circuit Paul Ricard, which he’ll contest on a Yamaha YZF-R1.
The first draft of Formula 1's 2023 calendar has begun to circulate among the German specialist media.
Jérémy Guarnoni has revealed how he’s in two minds about history repeating itself when the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or forms the deciding round of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship later this month. Frenchman Guarnoni won the famous 24-hour race when it was based at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in 2013 but has yet to register a finish since the event returned to Circuit Paul Ricard, its spiritual home, in 2015.
