Watch: How MI Spinner Kumar Kartikeya's Father "Watched Match On Projector" With Entire Police Battalion On Son's Debut

Kumar Kartikeya picked two wickets as Mumbai Indians dismissed Chennai Super Kings for just 97 in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match on Thursday. It was the 24-year-old left-arm spinner's yet another brilliant show in MI colours in his maiden season. It was not just a validation of Kartikeya's talent but also of his father's belief on his abilities. Hailing from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, taking up cricket professionally was never an easy choice for Kartikeya. But his dad Shyam Math Singh, who is in police force, insisted that his son went for cricket coaching. First, Kartikeya trained in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh and then played in Delhi.

"Felt I Had Unfinished Business...": Pat Cummins Opens Up On Returning To KKR For IPL 2022

A premier strike bowler for Australia across all three formats, Pat Cummins has had a mixed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far. After missing the first three games of the season to international commitments, Cummins announced his arrival in style, smashing a 15-ball 56 to help Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians. However, after a string of poor performances with the ball, the Australian Test skipper was dropped from the team. After missing the last four games, Cummins returned to the KKR team and made an instant impact with the ball as he came back to haunt MI again.

Pat Cummins Reveals "One Of The First Things" He Packs On Tour

Kolkata Knight Riders have not had the best of seasons in IPL 2022. Despite spending heavily and giving the reins of the team to a new skipper in Shreyas Iyer, the team has failed to impress this season and are currently on 10 points after 12 matches. They still have a mathematical chance of making it to the play-offs if they win their remaining two league matches but will still have to depend on other team's losing all their games.

Pata Nahi Kya Kar Raha Tha Bench Par": Ravi Shastri Baffled By KKR's Decision To Drop This Star In Previous IPL 2022 Matches

Pat Cummins on Monday showed his prowess with the ball, taking three wickets in an over as Kolkata Knight Riders romped to a 52-run win over Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2022 clash. Cummins had missed the first three games for KKR this season, arriving for the tournament after completing his international commitments with the Australian team. The fast bowler made instant impact on his very first game of the season, smashing a 15-ball 56 to help KKR beat Mumbai Indians. He had also taken two wickets but had been plundered for 49 runs off his four overs. After playing the next three matches, Cummins was dropped from the team. Mumbai Indians suffered their ninth loss of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season as they suffered a 52-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on Monday. Jasprit Bumrah had taken five wickets for the Rohit Sharma-led side to restrict KKR to 165 but the batters failed to capitalise. However, during KKR's innings, a funny incident happened and it left everyone including Rohit Sharma in splits.

IPL 2022: Watch - What went wrong here? Rohit Sharma's baffling dismissal via DRS

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma's bat that resulted in him having to walk back to the pavilion in Monday's IPL match vs KKR? The KKR players felt there was a genuine edge indeed, but there were very many across the world, who were watching, who felt that Rohit and MI were given a really bad decision, thanks to technology or more specifically the Decision Review System (DRS). WHAT HAPPENEDThis was the last delivery of the first over of the Mumbai run chase. The 5 time champions, who are struggling big time this season and are already out of the playoffs race were jolted early thanks to this rather dubious DRS call. Tim Southee was the bowler and bowled a back of a length ball to Rohit, who was looking at defending the ball and seemed to have missed it. The ball looked like it had missed the bat and then ricocheted off his back leg to the KKR keeper Sheldon Jackson who took a low catch. KKR players appealed, but the on-field umpire gave it not out. Jackson convinced KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer to ask for the DRS review and that's when the real drama began.
